Do you ever have physical pain with depression? I am hurting so badly right now...physically hurting. Why do my emotions cause my body to ache? I thought we had found the right med cocktail for me, but now I'm now so sure. My pdoc is nice, but how can I expect her to understand me when I don't understand myself?

Hi Beccaboo,

I have had physical pain from depression. It felt like every bone in my body ached. I really don't know the cause, but it is one of the symptoms of depression. I think it is pretty common for the deeply depressed.

It has been a long time ago for me so I really don't remember how long it lasted or what made it go away.

How long have you been on your current medication coctail?

We change my meds every time I go to the pdoc, so about a week. I know it takes time, but sometimes the pain is too difficult to wait a long time. I have a call into my pdoc's office right now, so I hope to hear from a nurse today.

Hi BeccaBoo...Like DC & Southern, I too have experienced physical discomfort during depression. The pain has never been too severe; just annoying aches and pains that never really seem to radiate from anywhere specific - it just seems to be "all over", and I can never really pinpoint it. I'm not sure if there's anything I can ask my pdoc to prescribe for that, but if you get the answer; please let me know!!!! Hope you feel better real soon!!!

When I'm severely depressed/suicidal, I have mental and physical pain. I've tried all sorts of things to try and soothe it but nothing really helps. I just have to kind of talk to myself. Sometimes I weep and sometimes I don't. When on my medication it's less severe but doesn't go away 100%. In that case I write or listen to music. Those are my two favorite things to do. <3

Becca, I have severe pain everytime I fall into the depression. It is so severe I can't get out of bed. Mine feels like they describe RA, the arthritis. I am on disability and this is part of it cause I will not be able to move to go to work sometimes. Since my meds have been changed I haven't felt this, mainly because I haven't felt depressed but I have only been on the meds for a month this time. Talk to your doc, they should be able to adjust the meds to make you feel better.

Hey becca, I hope they find something for you, the last time I was in a severe depression I felt like someone had beat me from head to toe, I made the doctor run every test we could think of, and nothing came back, after getting a adjustment in the meds, it went away,
