norma, that's pretty much how it is for me too. I tell people that it's like chugging 5 energy drinks, doing a bunch of speed, being shot out of a cannon and then topping it off with some espresso ( but that doesn't do it even a remote bit of justice)...it's not the mania thats bothering me...(I'm used to that by now) it's the CLARITY of the mania and I totally assumed that because I started meds, I wouldn't reach this kind of level...caught me off guard and I'm pissed at myself for being able to see it so clearly RIGHT NOW but I couldn't see it coming before it arrived, you know? I could have been prepared..

Kim,

It took me almost a month on Lamictal to notice any benefit.

Do you remember what happened to me yesterday? I had a near meltdown from a small adjustment in one of my medications. The increased dosage you took last night could have triggered a manic episode, and like Norma says, you could come down off of it later.

It is your Drs. job to monitor you through this transition phase. He/she needs to know what is happening with you through this so he/she can determine if you are on the right meds, and adjusting properly.

I hope this is just a temporary flair up and you will feel better soon.

DC

Well, at least now you know and if it happens again...you will see it...it is a learning curve. Bet like DC said it is the slight change in meds...yep.

Just hang with us if you want to....we understand what you are going through.

Yup, yup. Feeling a lot better today. No paranoid thoughts, no rushing mind babble...very stable. For me, it can last anywhere from a couple of hours to a week. Don't let that panic you, though. You sound like you don't go up for that long. Maybe with the Lamictal, it will only last a little while.

I have been channeling my inner angel just for you. You should feel lucky. I usually channel my inner devil

I had one other thought. Maybe your Dr can give you something to help you sleep. I find getting a good rest will calm me down a lot, too.

Hey Kim, what's up brat?? lolol I go watch TV for a couple hours and you guys start the damned circus without me!!!! lolol Ya wanna know somethin really crazy mini-me?????? lol You are describing my exact actions and reactions when I first found this site....... don't spazz out friends....but it was my experience.. I think that you know, Kim, it ain't the med!! I believe that being inundated so strongly and completely by the stories and words of these people brings us to an awareness unlike any other we've had....It is us slapping us in the face...screaming in our own ears and letting us see ourselves in living color..I for one had never looked into a mirror and seen a different face with me inside the skin. My brain and my experiences in black and white from a hundred different fingers.......Me confronting ME!

Is it anything like that, Kim?

I love ya, kid

Hi, Kim, from what you are describing here it sounds very much like the mania trying to kick in, take yourself to your doctors this morning, lay off the things to do lists, and realize that no one can get all that done, distracting yourself is kinda normal, you can't get your thoughts to slow down and you don't slow down.

You are on a very low dose of the Lamictal right now, and if you have never felt stable before then it can be shocking, having a bunch of people around also that have experienced this type of thing before can send you into information overload, and it could have caused the awareness, this is actually a good thing..

If you must do the things to do list, make your list, with the major projects down at the bottom of the list, and start at the top, work your way down from there, the sense of accomplishment should help to get you into focus..

Just reading your couple of posts seems like you are slowing down a bit...that is a very good thing, but your doctor needs to know about this.. they can bump you up if needed, although the lamictal needs to be moved up slowly.

I've been bumped up to 600mg after my melt down last week, Kim, hang with us, tell us more jokes, you put on some great ones yesterday.. ok? and don't worry about the rambling, we all do that from time to time, even me.
