that is what the doctor is doing he wants to increase the respirdol to 2 times a day in 5 days, but after her behaviour now, i am not sure if that is a good idea. I was letting her have a little responsiblity with her meds, but then she didn't want to take them. then she started trying to "fake" taking them. so now i have to make sure she takes them or she wont. Ms. Norma, thanks so much for everything, i guess we will see what happens tomorrow at school, i am really worried...but, i am going to try to get some sleep and if you are on tomorrow, if you don't mind i will be contacting you.

I am ok, just tired, worried, frustrated. I am currently trying to find a job to support my family, i was a stay at home mom until my husband was in a wreck last jan 2007. he can no longer work so now it is up to me to "do it all". i am really overwhelmed by it all, and when i do get a job it is hard to keep it when episodes like this happen. thanks so much for caring.

Hi Kevin,

I am sorry you are going through this with your daughter. I have a 11 yr old son who has ADHD, and bipolar. He started having episodes, recently, and was put on Respirdal. It really helped, but, he was eating too much. I took him to the pdoc, and they put him on Abilify, and has been on Focalin, and Trazadone. He is doing so much better. I was afraid that they would put him in the hospital. He4 was getting really out of control. I was really scary.

I have researched on the internet about how to parent a bipolar child. I got alot of good info. It might help you, too. She will always be bipolar, and just as it is hard to find the right combo for adults, it might take a while to get your daughter stable.

I am a bit of a mam bear. I get upset when my kids aren't getting the help they need. I would be at the hospital demanding that they get my kid in.

I have been dealing with my pdoc. I have had a couple of bad episodes, and have gone in telling them, I need help, and the keep blowing me off. I am now looking for another pdoc. If your daughter's pdoc isn't helping, go get another opinion. This is about her life. If they can help adults with accute mental illness, they can help your daughter.

There are also forums online for parents of children with mental illness.

My son has a pdoc, psr worker, and a therapist. I had to go through a couple of therapist to find a good one. I had to do this with my illness, too. Hang in there, and don't give up until the miracle happens. You are a good parent. Keep up the good work.

God Bless,Gypsy
