i just want help for my 13 year old...seems no one will listen. i tell doctors, they just add meds, or act like it's not big deal, but what i see is, to me a big deal. it's frustrating.

well, she has been diagnosed with so many different things since she was 2 years old, starting with adhd, then aspergers disorder, schizophrenia, and now adhd/bipolar. school counsleor calls me friday asking if i gave her meds to her, which i did, and she went on to tell me that kassie's behavior was really out of sorts because she had ate half of her test paper, literally. i spoke with her doctor and of course he just said her meds were not right and did not even want to see her just changed her meds. i am so frustrated.

Momma you have every right to be frustrated. Is this behavior she has had before??? Or something new??

something all of a sudden, she was doing really well, her grades were coming up and all of a sudden, this! I have thought about maybe a residential pediatric treatment center, but I am not sure if this would be good for her??

It is difficult to be 13 yrs old anyway...and to add problems like this is really difficult....I would insist if it were my child to see the doctor immediately if things are going downhill..my son was diagnosed at 14 yrs with bipolar disease and the facility I was lucky enough to have him admitted to was specifically for teenagers. It taught him coping skills he uses even today at 26 yrs.

I have asked that she be put somewhere to help, the doctors shrug it off, and just medicate.. i don't know what else to do.

Give me a little background. What kinds of meds do they have her on...and for how long? When was she diagnosed...and what was the diagnosis?

ok, she has been on adhd meds since she was 4, currently she is on 54mg of concerta, 250mg of depakote (been on the depakote for about 2 months) and now the doc just put her back on respirdol 3mg and she takes a med at nite to make her sleep. previously she has been on Zyprexa, seroquel, prozac, zoloft, ritalin, clonodine, and probably more, i just can't remember at this time.

Now about her behavior...does she get depressed or manic..or a little of both??? And is she in regular school? You said her grades have been pretty good til now...so her concentration must be good...or have you seen a decline?
