My husband and I went to 'Borders' yesterday to pick up a few Ted Dekker books.

I instinctivly always head for the psychology section of the store to find books that will help me better understand what I am going through.

I spent about ten minutes looking but could not find anything pertaining to 'Bipolar'...THEN I glanced up and saw 'Marya Hornbacher' I LOVE THIS AUTHOR, she has written 'Wasted' previously and it was about her battle with anorexia/bulimia which I was pretty good at for a very long time, and in fact I read the book to get 'tips'...

I only looked at her name at first, but I glanced at the title.

MADNESS

'A Bipolar Life'

by Marya Hornbacher

They had never diagnosed her as Bipolar. Her life was spent, as early as the age of four with rapid thoughts, not being able to sleep at night, severe temper tantrums and the mood shift was as rapid as three different moods per hour.

They prescribed her 'anti-depression' medication which made the manic phases stretch well beyond boundaries and in fact several of her supposed suicide attempts were not in fact attempts to die, but merely an attempt to get the rapid thoughts to stop. She was a cutter because the pain of the cut stopped the thoughts from happening.

That is all in the first chapter.

Really a great book!
