There is a group leader here named Gypsy...she is offline right now and is usually on a little later...she has a lot of great ideas and can probably give some insight on this question. She is a smart gal...

Bay...the fact that you are trying to be optomistic is great. I find that is what gets me through life...a realistic optomism...counting blessings instead of problems...I see you have kids???

I have been on SSD for about 9 years. I do not recall how long it took, possibly 10 months. I got an attorney the first time they denied my claim. If you have not already checked with a lawyer, that may be a good place to turn. Most of them do not charge any up front fees, and will take their payment as a percentage of your back pay. The SSA regulates how much they can charge. I believe mine was 10%, but I'm am sure that has gone up in cost just like everything else.

Good luck. I know all to well how tiresome the process is.

I have been on disability for about a year now.

I guess that I for one wouldn't understand the cashier portion of that. Most of the jobs that I had thru my life were just that. That was part of my last job.

If you are filing due to Bipolar and the reason being that you can't maintain employment, I would think that it wouldn't matter what type of work you would do.

My disability went thru in three months. I know that I had doctor records from 4 different pdocs, held my last job for 6 years if you don't count the 7 times that I quit. I know that they do look at work history and such, along with the medical records.

I have heard that many have had to go thru the appeal process. I would try and get a lawyer........

Hi Bay,

I have filed for SSD, and am waiting for a hearing. I filed last April, and got denied twice. They told me, I shouldn't work in a job with a lot of changes or work with the public. But, they say, I can do a variety of work...LOL I have a lot of back up. I have a lot of support, and have a lawyer.I am scraping by financially, too. You just have to be patient. I am focussing on getting stable, while, I am waiting.

God Bless,Gypsy
