I have a boyfriend of about a year. [I know I must sound all high school here, but please go with me on this one.] I really appreciate him. He's not bipolar. I am. I feel that this is one of the most healthiest relationships I have ever been in. And it's the longest. My bipolarity flares usually shoos people away and especially men. But he's had so much patience with me. And he never fails to amaze me with his level of understanding. What can I do for him to let him know that? And what makes men like you the way you are? Sometimes I feel like this crazy chick bringing him down. But he tells me I push him to greatness.

Hi jessie,

Welcome to the group. I have a good man, too. I just tell him how much, I love him, and appreciate him. I am amazed at how much my fiance has been through with me. I have bipolar, and was not medicated for the first 4 yrs, that we were together. He just kept coming back, and has continued to be here no matter what. He is really happy, that, I am getting help, though.

God Bless,Gypsy

I know exactly what you mean! I'm currently in search for a good doctor to prescribe good medication for my bipolarity. I feel that I'm not getting the right medication. Because of this, the man in my life does put up with me very well in ways that I can not thank him enough for. But, hopefully I will find a cheap way to get medicine I so badly need.

Thank you both so very much! I'm just trying to find a nice (and cheap) doctor in Rochester, NY that specializes in Bipolar patients. I don't have any health insurance and doctors nowadays are so quick to diagnose and give out the wrong kindof medication. Reason why I'm on Prozac, which makes me feel even more awful. But, that's all they have..

If your doctor is telling you that all they have is prozac, they are full of crap. I can't take any antidepressants. I have bipolar 1, and they all make me manic. I tried prozac, and it was the worst. They obviously don't know anything about bipolar.

The links Dreau has are good ones. You can also check with county mental health, and some clinics go on sliding scale. There are also free med programs. You can look them up online. It's good you are looking for a new pdoc. I had a clinic try every antidepressant they had on me, and I finally had to change pdocs. I had to go through 4 pdocs before, I found a good one.

I have Bipolar1 as well. And Prozac makes everything worse...It's hard to explain but I just became a person I did not like and made me think about things I did not care to think about. It made my condition worse. I go to free clinics becuase I have no health insurance. Are there any p-docs that will do an evaluation and medicine not for free but for a cheap price. Rochester, NY has expensive p-docs. I just don't know where to turn...
