I have a doctor appointment on Monday with my shrink and I am asking her to take me off my meds...She has been treating me for bipolar for the last 6 months.

I had a nervous break down prior to this as my family doc had me on effexor for 2 years which was making me worse and sent me into a spiral drinking bing were I was blacking out.

I have had a very crazy life with drugs and alcohol which has left my with a lot of guilt which I believe has caused most of my depression...I have always had caos in my life because I thought that was normal.

Since I have been on this medication I have fallen in a deeper depression and my mind can't stay in the now.

I just want to feel good...

I met a lady I went to theraphy with today and I was so happy...we talked about 1/2 an hour in Costco and laughed like crazy...We both went to a four month phyciatric outpaitent program at the hospital to help us deal life...It was so nice to talk to someone as I have been hibernating at home...We are going to hook up for coffee soon.

Hopefully my doc will agree with my choice.

Sara

Dear Sara,

I have been hospitalized before and also drinking problem. Getting out and having someone to talk to is such a good thing for you to do. Hugs to you and good luck with the doctor.

I know that it's your choice to get off of your meds, but, I hope you are aware of the possible consequences.

I have bipolar, and cannot take any anti depressants. I have found some really good meds, that don't cause depression, or cause worse symptoms from bipolar.

I hope if you have problems, when you are off the meds, that you seek help. I went off of meds for 5 yrs, and just came out sicker.

Whatever you do, we are here for you.

God Bless,Gypsy
