I'm not very active on the Bipolar in the Family Support Group site, or the Bipolar Support Group site these days, but I visit daily, and try to keep up with things.

I noticed some issues between the two lately. I'm sorry to see this. I imagine it is hard for someone with Bipolar Disorder to read postings that are mostly filled with complaints about family members with Bipolar Disorder. And I know it gets pretty harsh sometimes. I think we family members need to be a little more tactful when expressing our issues with our loved ones.

On the other hand, I couldn't be more grateful to the Bipolar Support Group for the friends I have made, the things I have learned, the support and understanding I have been given, and the great advise I have been given on what my bipolar wife is going thru, and how I can better deal with it.

I just want you all to know that there are many of us from the Bipolar in the Family Support group who REALLY appreciate you. I have made some great friends here and you have greatly affected my life.

Sincerely,

PaulWink

Thanks Paul.

Although I have posted very little, I have been a member of this group for a little over a year and I'm also grateful to be a part of it.

Do you ever think that sometimes a family member of someone with BP might want insight from people who actually have BP? For instance, a wife with a bipolar husband might want to ask someone who has BP if this behavior is characteristic of the illness, or just characteristic of a spiteful person? I think that we can be helpful in that way to provide some insight.

175mg Lamictal daily
......
10mg Focalin IR 3x a day
......
30mg Remeron at night

Feed your dreams instead of your nightmares. Whatever we feed, will grow.

Hi Stella.

That's exactly my situation. My wife has Bipolar Disorder, and the support, understanding and advise I have received here have, literally saved my marriage.

Us family members can learn a LOT from you folks.

Paul

Thanks for the goodwill & kindness. I go through bad cycles of shame & guilt over my bp diagnosis, feeling I can never "make up" for it with my parents. It helps the healing in my family a lot when I get a handle on what their experience might feel like. I'm able to practice more compassion & empathy instead of feeling like they don't get it. xo
