Dragonfly, my wife's memory sucks. She blames it on the meds most of the time (If it makes her feel better and has no great bearing on things... her story, I don't know). I have thought about her memory problems upon a couple of occasions. My take on it is that in all of this turmoil that is her life, God has sent her a blessing in the fact that she does not remember alot of the things that have taken place.

Just my take on it. The unfortunate part is that I know all of these things that have taken place and I can't forget no matter how bad I want to. Forgive, YES! Forget, I wish (but never). This is one of the burdens we as the loved ones bear.

GOD BLESS

RED

Dragonfly, the meds excuse is her side of the story. I wonder if it does not have more to do with how the electro chemical reactions in the brain store information, the electro chemical reactions being suspect in bipolar. How much is meds and how much is her anatomy???

My bf would do the same thing. in midst of his ramblings & mania he would forget complete conversations. he has even lost a few hours here & there if not a day or so. other things you'd be amazed and what he'd remember. he's just started taking meds a couple weeks ago so we'll see how this effects him. I however do believe that its selective memory at times lol so No, I dont believe youre goin crazy

Selective memory...is what it sounds like...and a lot of times in counseling sessions the person is thinking what they are goint to say next instead of listening to response. Taping session might help if he agrees to it...

Get those long playing 90 minute ones..I had a therapist that taped all ouf our sessions and I would get a copy...it was amazing playing them back the things I missed some times..it also, made much more conscious of what I was saying...helped me a lot...Now if you start taping your day today experience well, that might be a lot. LOL However, if you don't you might want to chart the moods day to day...that really is an eyeopener...especially when trying to adust meds...
