I'm not sure if a few of you remember me or not. But I posted a month or two back about my Fiance being bi polar. I'm very excited to report that he is still going to therapy once a week and its helping him out. ANd today he started meds- Lamictal. I've done some reading on the Medication area and have learned a lot. I'm hoping this will be one thing that helps him out. I've read that a few of you are taking this as well. I thought I read somewhere that this is not long term. Is that correct? HOpe you all are still doing well

Hi bitesize,

Welcome back. I am so glad to see that your S/O is getting help.

Lamictal has worked really well for my depression. It's not temporary for me. I have been on it for a year now. I have bipolar 1, so, I needed another med added to it. They will start him on a small dose, and increase it slowly to prevent the rash. I am up to 400 mgs, now.

I hope to see you around here more often.

God Bless,Gypsy

hey bitesize, of course we remember you, I take Lamictal with Lexapro & Seroquel. Not short term for me either. They are working beautifully for me.

Hey Bitesize, not sure where you got the idea that the medications are not for long term use, most of us are facing the fact that we will have to take this for the rest of our lives, I am on the lamictal, have been since August of last year, and am looking at having to continue, as long as he is doing well, and it sounds from your post like he is, taking the meds long term is a small sacrifice to make.. encourage him to continue to do what he needs to do to get better and stay better..

Maybe I miss typed. I know medication will be in his life for the rest of his life. I just thought I read somewhere that Lamictal was not for long term use =)
