Darklite,

No chance my symptoms stem from BC. I have taken them and I have not taken them at different times but I have not found a correlation between the two.

Not to mention since this disorder affects men as well as women that can't be the cause of all the symptoms. I will assume that they haven't taken BC.

However I would love this to be something that was so easily fixed. My best to you. We all have to figure this out on our own and I hope that this is your answer. Just forgive me for having my doubts..

Hugs,

Forever

Hey Darklite, I would recommend talking to your doctor prior to considering coming off your bipolar medications, I too have taken them, and not taken them and they have not had anything to do with my bipolar.

Look your BC up on the web and see if your symptoms are listed as side effects to them, doubt seriously if you will find them, there are alternatives to the birth control pills, you can take shots, have implants, etc.. or just abstain from sex, it sounds more to me like you would rather not have the bipolar, and are looking for a excuse to come off your meds.. Please do yourself a favor and talk with your doctor before making this decision.

Darklite, as others have said... check out the side effects of the BC and go talk to your doctor. You should never stop taking any meds without the help of the doctor, getting off of some meds the wrong way can cause very bad problems.

The only problem my wife ever had with taking BC was that she got pregnant both times.

Yeah I might be in denial but I never started taking BP meds cause I was to

scared too. I was how ever on BC pills for 5 yrs and i had the craziest symptoms!! and the side effects of BC can be very similar to having BP symptoms (depression, anxiety, extreme mood swings, tiredness etc.)

I just had my doctor which my BC cause I needed something stronger after 5 yrs. since then I havent had any crying spells(other then the occasional tears) or episode. AND this month Iv lost my close friend to an accident, filed for a divorce, financial assistance and taxes all in the same week and i still havent broke down Like I used too. Thats the only reason why I think it might have been my BC pills. But Yes...I will go to the doctor for the final diagnosis...thanx everyone

Sounds like you have been to hell and back in a short amount of time, this is enough to make anyone question their sanity, much less a disorder, some times going through stuff like that I don't panic/fall apart, anything till long after all the chao's has gone by, I found my dad dead a few years ago, had to deal with all the calling of the police, ambulance, etc.. see it through to his burial, etc..

It was a month later before the grieving/crying all kicked in, please do talk with your doctor first, perhaps you can try a different method or type of BC and see what happens with that, then if you are still experiencing all the same things, you can look at coming off your bipolar medications, so that you will know which is which that is causing your symptoms.
