What was your longest period of stability? How long can a bipolar person stay stable on meds do you think??? A few years? a lifetime? Just really curious to get some thoughts.
Ativan 2mg at night
Lamictal 300mgs at night
Seroquel 600mgs at night
Seroquel XR 150mgs in the morning
Ambien 10mgs as needed

I would think if you take meds faithfully you should be stable for however long you are taking them.

I personally have not reached that point yet been on my meds for quite some time and my moods are still all over the place.

I forgot to add that to reach the stable effect you probably have to find the right meds that control certain episodes.

I had a manic psychotic episode three and a half years ago. I had to be involuntarily committed for ten days. My mania turned to a mixed mood that lasted months. I still suffer low grade depression but I am stable. I have been since the episode ended, though panic can still rear it's ugly head.

I can't tell you if it is the medication that has kept me stable or if there would be another twenty five years between episodes without medication. My first episode was as a teenager and went undiagnosed therefore unmedicated but I'm not really interested in taking the chance of being that manic again. whew

So count me in for almost three years of stability from my last episode. About twenty-five years between the first and the last.

Dx: BP1 with psychotic features (February 2006).
Generalized anxiety disorder (1994)

Medication
Lamictal 200 mg
Lexapro 10 mg

I have not been full-blown manic for a year now, but depression is still with me. Dunno if that counts as stable but to me, anything is better than being manic.
