Ok so I am back. I went to the hospital. They didn't put me on meds but I was supposed to call me doc today and make a follow up appointment. Some of you know this but my family doc that kept me on meds moved to a new practice and is a bit further away. My med office without him can't seem to function. Well I can't get an appointment where my doc went until the 15th of April and therapy is the same way. I called some other docs offices and they say it will take a while too because all of them are having to get my med records transfered. Any suggestions. I am ok right now but that is a long time with no help and I don't want to relapse.

Pixie, good to hear from you. I am glad you are OK.

What to do in the interm??? Carmen, Norma and a couple of the others will be on later today and can pobably direct you better than I. The only suggestion I have is to call the new docs and tell them to put you on a cancelation list let them know the immediacy of you situation. Cancelation list is if someone cancels, they can call you and have you come in their place. Can you get ahold of your old doctor and attempt to expadite the medical records, even go get them from him and transport them yourself to the new doctor. Been there done that, took a wheel barrel for all of my wifes records.

Only other suggestion is to hang around with friends (us as well as others) and try not to be alone.

God Bless

RED

Hey pixie,

It's nice to see you. I am glad you got help. I would call all of them, and tell them about your situation, and ask what you should do. I would be a friendly best. I do this. I have done it with my current pdoc. This is really important and you shouldn't have to wait a month.

You could also call around to other doctors to see if they can get you in sooner. I just did that recently. My old doc was out almost a month with his appointments, and I went and found another one who could get me in with in 2 days. I like her better, too.

I also had to change pdocs, too. They got me into see the new one with in 3 days. So, anyway be persistant.

God Bless,Gypsy

Dear Pixie, Glad you are back. I think Gypsy has a good idea...find a doctor sooner. A month is long to wait for appointment. Also, doctor in hospital should have given you a scrip to cover you for meds til next visit.

Call hospital and say where is scrip???

Be nice but, persistant...what meds were you on???

Some tips if you can't get meds...

1. Careful of over the counter meds....don't use unless absolutely necessare.

2 Keep social...if you start to feel depression...call doctor anyway,

say this can't wait can you work me in...you might have to sit all day

bring a book.

3 If you feel in anyway that you are getting seriouly messed up call

911...go to hospital....get help...ok?

4 Keep posting here, you know we care about you and want you to be ok.

hugs, norma

The last time I was on meds was 2 years ago. I was taken off them because I showed damage to my body. The hospital didn't know what all I had taken before(doses and eeverything) they made sure I didn't seem suicidal and released me and told me to go to my doc. The hos. and my docs new place are connected in funding, but since he moved he doesn't have my records. He has to see them before he can see me. There aren't but a handful of places to go to within an hour of my home and the place I was at that my doc left only have 2 docs and I started seeing them before my doc. They put me on sleeping meds and nothing else even after my bipolar dx from psych place. Thats why I switched and this doc is great. I can go to another therapy place but they cost more than we bring in above our rent. And they pass you around from one to another everytime you come. I just live in such an old fashioned town its like they don't think bipolar is real. I will go to the hos if things get worse. Thanks, I will keep you guys posted.

Jenny

Well I just called the hospital who gave me numbbers to call. I called the numbers to find out I have to go to the er to be referred into these or I can call another place to get anassessment. I have private ins. so they have to put me on a waiting list and can't help, not sure what waiting list is for if they can't help but she gave me numbers to psychiatrist but they have to have almost 300 for an appointment even with my ins.? That's nuts! I wish our country would do away with ins and give us healthcare like alot of other countries do. It would help all the way around even our economy.

Don't let them get you down Jenny, do what you have to do. Money is the worst thing ever invented. Try to keep your chin up and if you have to head for the ER.

I know that I have the hospital for when I am feeling unsafe but its like if you haven't cut or said you want to die then they won't refer you in somewhere. Just like we don't go to the doc when we on top of the world in our cyclesd they won't treat you for it. I need help with my BP but I don't think there are too many more options. I guess I will have to try to wait it out unless it gets worse.

If you have private insurance there should be an 800 number on the card.

Call them and tell them the situation...the insurance people don't want you back in the hospita...son has United Health Care and they have a 24 hour line you can call...it was a Godsend...they were so helpful...most people don't know the insurance company will help..
