MDJunction to me

jenniferdiva"MDJunction has been just an amazing support for me. The people who are on mdj are so nice! Unlike the many other support sites that I have been on. I have made several friends on mdj who are so supportive and so educated about mental illness. Of course non of us are doctors, but we certainly offer each other hugs, opinions, and advice. I have learned a great deal from my friends on mdjunction. I am also encouraging other people who suffer from mental illness to come on to MDJ. It can be a life line." (jenniferdiva)

Somewhat upset I sat down to have a talk with my dad about anxiety meds. He is a vietnam veteran and suffers from very severe PTSD. He shared a story I thought you all might like to hear.

He was fed up with life, not knowing what was wrong with him after he got out of the service. He took his 357 and headed out to what he called lookout point in the desert. He was ready to end it. Not far from his destination he ran upon a car stuck in the mud, it was a disabled man missing his legs. The man said to him "I know why you're here" he knew what he was about to do. My dad helped the guy out, towed him to the road, and went home.

He told me "son you're here for a reason" and I know this is true, because I myself have had my run ins with death. Just months ago I took 20 somas and an entire 3 month bottle of xanax, and made it out alive. I don't know if I was trying to kill myself, or too fucked up to know what I was doing.

Point is be it God, jesus, allah, whatever you wanna call it I think there is someone out there watching over us.

Your right. God watchs over us. He keeps us safe and helps us stay alive. He also gives us the strength to keep moving forward and to get stabilized. I couldn't deal with this illness without Him. We are all truly blessed. He watchs over us whether we believe in him or not.

If it weren't for the God loving people at the churches that helped fund and feed people at the homeless shelter; when I was down on my luck. I wouldn't be where I'm at now and so many others as well. The Lord is definitely there at ower weakest moments.

I have to believe we are all going through this for SOME reason. I also hope I have a purpose in this life. It is much more comforting to stand back and look at life with that perspective than to get caught up in the moments, which is such a challenge with BP.
