THERE IS ABSOLUTELY HOPE! Don't focus on stopping the meds, focus on getting back on track and learning from this, stay on your meds. Check out some support and informational stuff on www.nami.org also! You can fix this, you are a strong person, just put your mind to it and take care of it and remember this feeling the next time you think to stop the meds, it's not worth feeling like this right? The point is, you can correct it and move forward and remember we are all here for you. I have a 21 year old son that is bp, we have been dealing with this since he was about 10!!! He and his girlfriend are now expecting a baby girl in 4 weeks...fun and exciting, there is always hope. Get back on the meds and get yourself into counseling and learn some coping strategies...YOU CAN DO IT!

What you have to make your priority is yourself and the rest will follow. You cannot be concerned with anything other than getting yourself on track. Ask your doc to help you with that and I think that once they all see a positive change in you, they will become more interested in learning about all of it but for now you have to worry about how YOU are feeling and what YOU need.

First of all, suddenly stopping meds is BAD NEWS!!!!!!!! I cannot express it enough! Your brain is probably "crashing" right now. As soon as possible, SEEK HELP immediately!! I have done it and it almost cost me my life. It could possibly put you back it square one! SEEK HELP IMMEDIATELY!! YOUR WORTH IT!!

Hi,

I am Bipolar 1 and have not always been a great parent because of my symptoms, and compulsive behavior. Now, that I am on meds and getting help, I am able to be a much better mom.

Depression is the horrible side of this disease. I know it will have to go up eventually. The gambling is but a symptom of the mania. I am assuming your husband wants to take your son because of your behavior, as a result of not taking meds.

So, if you were to get help maybe it would help with the issues with the other stuff going on and enable you to deal with everything else a little more calmly.

When we are flip flopping from mood to mood , we can't deal with life very well. Other people tend to see us in the complete chaos ,that we are actually living in. We can't always see the reality around us, when we are not on meds, and balanced.

So, first things, first things. I can't be a very good parent if I am not taking care of me, and my mental illness or if I am acting out in some other compulsive behavior, I am not really present for anyone. Not even myself. So, slow down, and get honest and think about whats really important here. The gambling and not taking meds, or you and your son? Untreated addiction, and untreated bipolar can cause suicide. So, these are some serious issues to think about. Its really your decision, and I hope you make the right ones.

In the mean time we are here for you. God bless Gypsy

God Bless,Gypsy

It's the classic response to when we begin to feel 'normal' again. We stop taking our medication .

We need it like a diabetic needs insulin.

Remember that, you are not CRAZY . You may do crazy things, but you are not crazy. It's a chemical imbalance and you need stability in your life. First and foremost taking care of self and getting a community of support around you is a great way to have a ship not a lifeboat around when you need HELP!

Good wished and God Bless you on your journey to a more stable life!
