MDJunction to me

Hazeldee"MDJunction means that I no longer have to feel like I am the only person in
the world with pericarditis. It means that I can talk to others who know
how stressful and how painful having pericarditis can be. It means that I
connect with others to discuss treatments that have or haven't worked for us, so that we have a leg to stand on. I think that having my friends at
MDJunction has allowed me to better mentally and emotionally process my
diagnosis and what it means to me. I feel so lucky to have this community
available to me. I use MDJunction as a way to use my experience to help
others. Reaching out to help others is the only solace I have found since
being diagnosed with pericarditis.

this medicine change is having me go crazy. i am no longer anxious but now i am severely depressed like questioning why death isnt a option. i called a crisis hotline who told me to go to the hospital and i called and having a friend come over to keep me company. what other things can i do to get rid of these thoughts or what course of action do you suggest?

I'm glad you were able to call one of the crisis lines and are having a friend keep you company but usually when it has something to do with a med change you need to call your pdoc and see what they would recommend...maybe they would want you to go to hospital especially if you are having those thoughts.

Jazz, you need to call your pdoc right now and tell him/her what this med is doing. He'll have you stop it. If you are really feeling like you will hurt yourself, go to the ER when your friend gets there.

This is the major problem with med changes. I know they have tried to put Katy in the hospital before just for this reason. The meds mess with the chemicals in your brain. Logical thought it probably out the window. The hospital really is the best place to be. It is safe and they can adjust you as needed. Even if it just for the night.

med changes suck, just hang in there try to contact your pdoc, If not able to then take the crisis line advice and seek medical attention. you may try hanging out with your friend but seeking medical attention is the best possible answer.

Med changes can be tricky. I'm glad your friend will be with you, but get to the hospital to be on the safe side.

I don't think I can add anything, everyone's about said it all. I think you've done all the right things so far. If it gets worse I would definitely go to the hospital. There is no point taking the chance that you might act on the thoughts. You are too special to lose so take care of yourself.

Hope it is better for you, Jazz. The crisis line gave you the best advice. In a situation like you describe go to a safe place...hospital or emergency room where they can help.
Comments made by me are from my own experience and they are my opinion alone, whose intent is only to share that opinion and not to give medical advice nor discourage from seeking medical help. Medicine is best left to the professionals that is what they do.
