Went to my GP yesterday...I've gained 12 pounds in 6 weeks! Seroquel has to go! Hope the pdoc can come up with something else. I was taking 800 mg of Seroquel. I'm hungry all the time! This has to stop NOW!!!!

It has the same effect on me! I have gained 16 pounds in 2 months! I have quit taking without the doctors permission, but I am still on Lamictal and all the other meds. Im just gonna tell her that I would rathe rbe crazy than FAT, lol! It did help me sleep better at nite, but its not worth being depressed about my weight! I have been trying to eat better and watch my fat and calorie intake... Im praying that I get back to normal as fast as I put the weight on. I was like you and felt like I was starving to death all the time! I wanted something salty, then something sweet, then something else salty. FOOD WAS ALL I COULD THINK ABOUT! I do have an appt. with the doc in a couple days so I will talk about it to her then! Good luck with you! s~

i'm sorry that's happening to you-these side effects are HELL!!! people think we're so screwed up for wanting to get off of certain meds, like all we are is bp and as long as it "helps" with that, we should be grateful-well that sucks! how "grateful" or mentally healthy does anyone feel when their whole body changes in 6 weeks and it feels so out of control? grrrrrrrr!!! hang on and just don't stop til your doc gives you something else

I've gained 70 pounds in 9 months. I feel for you in a major way...BUT...unlike Sheila, I'd rather be fat than crazy. My daughter deserves a mommy she can count on. Can't count on the mom who's flipping out or spending rent money. My plans are to start exersizing like mad.

As someone who has had a gastric bypass and even some additional injections to control weight, it is a major issue to me. Abilify will probably work as well, at least I hope it will. But I've gone over a major number on the scale, and it is my "magic" number for change. Seroquel, even though I really like it, has to go.

Absolutely, I'm not willing to go over the edge with my BP. But I really do hope another less-fattening cocktail will work as well!

i was just kidding with the crazy/fat thing! i think that as long as i continue my lamictal that i should be ok. doc just gave me the Seroquel to help sleep at nite so i dont get manic and stay up all nite. first thing i do after i take one is head for the fridge! i REALLY didnt mean that seriously! i have a family also and i wouldnt go completely off my meds for no reason that would hurt my loved ones. s~
