I read that people with BP are prone to passive aggressive behavior; more so than the general population.

What have been your experiences with this?

Thanks!

Hi Peepers, it's not just a bipolar trait, according to my therapist and everything I researched on line, it fits my husband to a tee, hates confrontation, will do sneaky little things, doesn't want to look within, look it up on the web..

Hi peepers,

My therapist told me I was passive agressive. I will put up with other peoples issues, and a;llow myself to be treated anyway people want to treat me until, I get angry. It's usually more angry than whats appropriate for the situation. This can apply to anyone.

With bipolar, I can happy, and stable, and tolerant. When, I am in mixed mania, i get irritable, and critical. I can go into a manic state, and get angry, and lose control. So both can seem very similar. I think the passive aggressiveness is learned behavior, and the bipolar symptoms are my illness.

That's my 2 cents.

God Bless,Gypsy

Thats interesting Gypsy, I had not thought about glenn's behaviors being passive aggressive till my Therapist said something about it, he had had what I call his temper tantrum earlier in the day, threw one of his tire air gauges out in the field in behind us, cause he could not get it to work, he had the wrong one on the air compressor, and he should have known this, as the tire had been going soft for weeks...after I had retrieved it, I left, I don't like being around him during these "tantrums" I went to the store, got what I needed, came back and he was gone, no biggie to me, as I knew he had to go to my brother, in the mean time I came in here to the computer room, was on the computer and went and lit a smoke..I got to looking for my ashtray, it was no where to be found, I found it in the trash can, I really didn't get all that upset about it as I figured he had knocked it over, got pissed and tossed it, it wasn't till later after I had went in the livingroom to do some cleaning that I got to looking for the other one I keep on the couch, mind you he never sits on the couch, never goes anywhere near it, there was my other ashtray in the trash can, he would have purposely got up, went in the livingroom got it off my couch and tossed it.. no reason for it, Christi my therapist when I was telling her about this, said passive aggressive.. and he ain't the bipolar in the family, I am... I looked it up, and it fits his behaviors to a tee..
