MDJunction to me

peasha"This has been one of the most supportive places I have ever been. I found MDJ by mistaking looking for drs to help me with my many health issues and since that day over a year ago I have found a tight nit little family that keeps me going when the times are tough and offers me a place of retreat to share my successes and failures with others. I get to see the humor and seriousness of what I experience as well as the resources to learn about my health conditions. Thanks MDJ" (peasha)

OK so I have a question and I hope I get a lot of feedback. I have this problem with being around people... I just don't want to do it. Every time someone starts talking to me or anything i just keep thinking I wish they would go away and leave me alone. I live in a house with 7 people and i spend more time shut-up in my room than I do with other people. Is this normal for BP or am I just wierd?? Any input will be greatly appreciated!!

I am terrified of groups larger than 3. And that depends on who they are. There are a lot if times I just want to be left alone with my dog. My girlfriend just had an accident and is in the hospital. I was going to visit yesterday, but the panic set in. Too many family members and other people. She is also my sister in law, so most of them know I back out of almost every gathering. The only time I can really be around people is when I'm manic. Which doesn't happen very often anymore.

Give me a dog any day!!!!

XOXO

Dawn

Hey Daisy, you are not weird by any means, I don't like to be around a lot of people especially if it is in close contact such as living with them or being at a family get together, it's just me and hubby here, and I am comfortable being round him, but when a holiday hits, we go to the get together, stay just long enough to have made a decent appearance and i am out of there..

Animals are sooo much nicer than people..lol, love your avatar dawn

Hi Daisy,

WElcome. I am glad you are here. I have a hard time in large groups of people too.

I am working out at a gym, and have started cycling, from being so overwhelmed. When, I first got diagnosed with bipolar, I got agoraphobic.

I hid out a lot. When, I go out to do errands, I have to take it easy, or I will start cycling, and freak out.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this site as much as, I have . Feel free to vent , share support or whatever you like.

God Bless,Gypsy

don't worry as you might have already figured out your not wierd...lol

as for me I can be around my imediate family for a little bit but if there are any choices to be made...(where to go to eat, where to go shop, which road to take) i absolutly freeze up and panic. I do not go to wal-mart or any retail store from the week of thanksgiving till well after new years. if i have to go i wait and go at like 3am.

as far as any other crowds it's the same, I work at a very large Ford Dealership (35 salesmen alone) when we have to get together for a dinner or meeting, i do my best not to go. At thanksgiving I actually couldn't look at anyone and sat at a table by myself ate got up and left without anyone talking to me.

See, ladies, i figure we absolutely are weird, but who's to say that's so bad??? I can't stand being in crowds. People make a bunch of small talk. They talk about what they're buying or what they're doing, like it's the most important thing in the world. It doesn't seem to me that anyone is ever really LISTENING to anyone else when there's a crowd. Mostly, they're just waiting their turn to talk. I think bp makes us really look more at the choices we make, because we have to, i.e. if we do certain things, they will make us sick. That's not so bad. Obviously, if it's making it so you can't live because you're so afraid to be around others, that's one thing (I get like that some times). But if it's just that you just don't feel like making small talk with a bunch of people you don't care about who don't care about you, no wonder we prefer dogsSmile Learning to love being alone is one of the best gifts i think women can make to ourselves. It'll keep you from being with some real losers, just because you're lonely. lololol

I agree. This site made me feel like I'm "not the only one", too. It does take a weight off, paint.

Peace.
