Well, being diagnosed as Bipolar has ruined my career. I was discharged from the Air Force with being bipolar, and I can never return to the military because it is a permanent illness. I feel like I am completely having to start over, and I never thought about anything else because I was going to retire from the military, I didnt have to worry about a place to live, insurance, money or anything, the military provided me with everything I needed. Now I have to worry about all of this at one time and its very hard on me.

Sorry to hear Daisy. I'm sure things will work out fine. Everything happens for a reason I believe. Even if you dont know exactly what that reason is at the time. Keep your head up.

Daisey:

How did you find out you had it? Is that the way it is in all branches? My soon to be ex is in the military and was diagnosed with it, however the military does not know about it. Sometimes I wonder if he refuses to get help because he fears that the military will find out or if his denial is so strong that he just refuses to believe there is something wrong with him. I'm almost certain he won't be able to hide it from them much longer. With every epizode he gets worse and worse. Don't feel bad about being discharged from the military. Why would you want to be a part of an organization that throws you away just because you are sick?

Hi Daisey,

Welcome. I just got help with my illness 11 mos ago, and had finally became disabled. It was really hard to get used to the idea, after working, since, I was 14 yrs old. I have filed for disability. I also think this is a new start. It was for me. It was time to take care of me, and get stable, and go to therapy. Maybe, when, I get my disability, I will go back to school. Who knows, but, everything will be okay as long as I take care of myself.

So hang in there

God Bless,Gypsy
