Hi everyone,

As you know, I had a mixed episode 2 weeks ago.

Ever since then, I've been feeling extremely tired and worn out. Everything I do seems to take a great deal of effort including walking a short distance in my apartment from one room to another.

Have any of you experienced this as well?

I'm thinking about asking my pdoc to add Provigil to my regimen until I can get some of my energy back because right now I'm too emotionally and physically drained to do anything. Sad

Now that is no good. Am trying to think of a solution. How about having a day where you veg out, listen to one or more of your favourite books? And just let yourself have a day off and do not feel guilty for not doing anything much for that day.

A "sign off" day can work wonders.

All the best with it,

Jenny,

That's the problem. I haven't done anything productive ever since my episode started on the 2nd.

I know the feeling of being fatigued all to well. It makes me feel like the smallest task is too challenging and overwhelming. What is Provigil? Does it give you energy?

That is the point Neondreams the person does not do anything productive. What I am saying is to veg out. ie don't do anything what so ever. And forget any guilt or feeling that the person should be doing someting.

And then see how they are the next day.

Guilt is a very soul destroying emotion. A parent who feels guilty re a child, is a BAD parent as the child pays for the parent's guilt. ie they do not like the child as this child brings out in them guilt and they know that this is very wrong, but they (the parent)cannot help themselves.

Jenny,

I guess I'm not being very clear. I don't feel guilty for not doing anything during the day. Ever since my episode, all I've done is read MDJ, watch TV and listen to my favorite radio talk shows. I could care less about being productive.

Jenny,

If I'm still misunderstanding your post, I'm sorry. Nothing is making sense to me today for whatever reason.

Volante,

I'm glad I'm not alone.

To answer your question -- yes -- Provigil is a med designed to increase energy. I know quite a few people with bipolar who take it with great success. I'd like to try it on a temporary basis until I can get over the lethargy I feel.

Neon, I can tell you that Provigil has helped me tremendously. It has helped my energy level and my mood. I don't know, however, if it's what you need to get you over this hump or not. I have a lot of other stuff wrong with me that drains my energy which is why my pdoc was actually willing to give me a try on it. I know you have other issues too, so maybe it would be benificial. It might not hurt to ask. He did tell me that it could induce mania. So, that's something to consider, also.
