I was moving away from the painful issues and trying to find an uplifting group of people to help me transition to a thriver in my life. I found that here. I also found a group of peers with Fibromyalgia and found the same uplifting experience there. My computer crashed and it was a while before I found my way back, this time with issues related to Parkinson's Disease. I had tried a few other support sites before reminding myself of MDJ. On those, I never got a reply. I finally found my way back here and again found very supportive, caring and inspiring people who made me feel like I was 'back home'. Indeed I am." (ThereseML)

Hi Secular,

Good that you are very careful on the roads.

Yeap Seroquel is answerable to many things. Currently sitting keying in and not too sure just what I am doing, most a result of Seroquel. But mind you there is also the sleepng pills on board. I needed to take them last night, making themselves felt. It is now 11:00am here now. Only just go up.

I don't drive went for my licence once, but I woke up that I was a danger on the roads when me and car arrived at an intersection and I could not perceive what side of the road I was on. I put it down to my dyslexia.

I have very little doubt I could well be a road rager. Push cars which I reakoned were in my way out of my way. Nor would I let other cars come in from another lane. Yeap you would want to get your bike off the road if I drove! Sad

So I keep off the roads and do not have a licence. And watch out for wayward cars and I hate to say it wayward bikers.

Some of the bike riders do some damned silly things here. Friend gave up riding his to work when he got hit by some stupid car. He was not too badly hurt, but he never drove it to work again. He is now a train person. But now has a car. Which I might add is great for me.

Riding on the back of his bike with all my shopping was a dicey business Smile

It seems a shame though you gave up your licence, handing if off to your ex for a while might have been the way to go instead of giving it up completly.

Hey your dieting method sure sounds the way to go, your system would end up with life style changes and result in you keeping the good eating habits you found when dieting.

Too many people starve themselves loss weight quickly then unfortunatly go back to thier old eating habits Sad

Yes, jock, pedaling is much easier on my knees than walking is. There is much less impact since while moving, your feet are rotating around the crank instead of hitting the ground. Also, once you get over the WTF factor, you'll find that pedaling is the most efficient way to transport yourself from place to place. What I mean by that is that you can maintain a much higher velocity and cover much more ground than while walking. It is still stressful to your body, but I don't have to pay insurance, gas, or many other expensive things like that.

Hey scooby, it's nice to hear from a fellow bicyclist. I ALWAYS wear my helmet, use LED's, wear a reflective safety vest, and use a small mirror which attaches to the frames of my glasses. I also have my waterproof backpack with my copy of the MO Bicycle laws, tire tools, and my multi-tool. I'm getting ready to invest in a pair of decent biker shades later this week. I need the protection from the Sun as well as a shield from the bugs and other wind born debris out there. Do you use a mirror? Mine took me about a week or so to get used to it, but now I don't go anywhere without it. I feel completely naked without it.

I ended up pedaling just over 11 miles today. Tomorrow I have an appointment with a foot doctor and then I have to be at work. I had a lot of fun out there today and my confidence was right there waiting for me and so were the impatient motorists.
