I am having a hard time.... I am on good meds.... but the stress of my life is sending me into tail spins of mixed episodes (Manic and Depression at the same time). I am up tonight because I can not sleep and I am upset at life. I don't know how to help myself anymore, and I need some advice from those who have been there and have obsessive thoughts of wanting to "punish" themselves (not suicidal, just wanting to let out the rage on myself and not others)

Am I making any sense?

If there is anybody out there who can help, please respond!!!!

Unfortunately you are making sense. You also seem to be presenting the classic self worth issues - needing/wanting to hurt yourself. Are you in therapy? Not only have I learned a great deal about bipolar disorder through therapy, I've also developed many coping mechanisms and management skills. It's also provided me an opportunity to get in touch with the pain and anger that I had buried for so long. Have you ever tried meditation? It really helps to calm me down. Breathing exercises can really help quiet the obsessive thoughts. Take good care of you and hang in. Many blessings, Odyssey

Thanks for the tips... I actually scheduled with a new therapist today for a Thursday appointment! I was SO manic last night, and I'm glad I am doing better today.

It's so nice to hear that I am not alone. Any meditation favorites of yours that you can suggest and I can buy?

Thanks again.

I'm glad you have an appointment with a therapist - that can be the best "gift" you give yourself. I take Prozac during the day which tends to give me energy and Seroquel at night that helps me sleep. Everyone's physiology is different - what may work for me, might not work for you. There is a good combo for you - just got to find it. Many blessings and no, you're not alone. Keep coming back here whenever you need some support or just to vent. Odyssey

Sorry... I meant meditation. I would like to learn to breathe better to help cope.

Any suggestions?

Yes, do you have dial-up internet? If not, there is a wonderful audio, guided meditation on http://www.meditainment.com/ - it's called the "Secret Garden" and it really is nice. I'll dig up some breathing exercises and get back to you later. Odyssey
