MDJunction to me

MissNikkiAnn"When you have an illness with the name "Non-Familial Dysautonomia" (a name that most people, and even doctors, have never heard of), you need a network
of people who understand the name and the symptoms/issues that come with it.
MDJunction led me to that network of people during a very confusing and sickly time. For this I am thankful. And for this reason I try my best to give back to other members the same care and help that I received through MDJunction.

So I finally started talking sex with my pdoc, but it came about in a twisted way: We discussed the results from my MMPI-II and how I was deemed to have "masochistic traits" (masochistic personality is not included in the DSM but some tests and clinicians still refer to it. I had to explain that No, I don't get sexually excited from being hit, victimized, etc.!!! It's just that I tend to undermine myself, undo the good things I do, etc. Wow, we start talking sex (for the first time ever) and right away I have to explain that I'm not some kind of whore in an underground sex club!!!

Fortunately, we're now talking about sex. It's only been 8 1/2 years already!!!

I'm not sure how these "masochistic traits" play out in my life, but in my dream life it happens all the time.

Have any of you heard of these personality traits? Apparently I also have avoidant traits, surprise surprise!

I had a psychiatrist in the past and we had a pretty argumentative relationship. Was not my original point but makes me wonder...Anyway, I was going off on some rant and he goes "You have a psychological explanation for everything!" Still not sure what's wrong with that. "And I'm a masochist!" First time ever I heard him silent ever.

My current psychologist uses avoidant personality all time. I think that one bothers me more, maybe I just hear it so often. :|

Zadie,

Please read our Terms & Conditions of membership, located at the blue link at the bottom of this page. Please note: "You agree that you will NOT post any knowingly false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, or threatening message." The title to this thread includes a thinly veiled obscenity and is potentially offensive to other members. Simply putting a few symbols in place of letters in an obscenity does not make it any less obscene or offensive because the word you are trying to conceal is still readily recognizable. Unfortunately, titles to threads can not be changed or edited. I am locking this thread, and referring members to the Personal Beliefs and Experiences thread where they can reply to your original post:

Another option would be for you to copy and paste your original post into another new thread with a different title.

I'm sorry, I have to apply the rules consistently.
