How long do you have to be in a stable mind state to be considered in remission? ive been doing well for a month now just about is that remission or do i need to hit like a two month, ninety days thing like that. i currently go to therapy 2 times a week, i exercise, and i am trying to eat better buy hey i am 22, junk food is my life. but with the seroquel Xr ive gained 15 pounds so i have to do the healthy eating now. i also started omega 3 fatty acid cause i hear it does wonder for bipolar depression. so how long do you think i have to be on this good mood before i go to therapy once a week (in june I am done for good my therapist is leaving and ive had 8 already i wont have another unless i am under extreme need and besides by then i am gonna start going to the support group for four months weekly and then twice a week , then once a month and so on...

by anyway how long do you have to feel good before its unless doctors visits and less therapy. I am only bipolar 2 and never seriously suicidal BTw

I've been stable for about 6 months, Graduated from seeing pdoc every 6 weeks to every 12, and am finally starting to see therapist once every other week. I still have group therapy once a week, and we have a family therapy that is about every month, but we are starting to quit that.

I think it's up to you and how you feel. It took me awhile to not go see therapist every week, and still it scares the heck out of me, such a creature of habit.

justrembering,

You see your pdoc once every 12 months? I had no idea pdocs had their patients on that kind of a schedule especially if they are BP. The longest I've heard of patients seeing the pdoc is every 3 months. My old pdoc always wanted me to see him every 3 months regardless of my stability, but my new pdoc wants to see me every 2-3 weeks. Each person is different, but given how unstable I've been for the past 1.5 years, I feel very comfortable with this arrangement. I also used to see my tdoc on a bi-weekly basis, but that has since been changed to once a week after I was recently diagnosed with PTSD. I have alot of issues I need to work on which is why he requested that I see him once a week instead.

jazz,

I'm afraid I can't comment on how long a period of time is considered stable. My longest time for being stable was 3 weeks and that was back in December following my IP hospitalization.
