I hit a real rough patch last night, but it's morning now and I feel much, much better. I'm gonna be just fine, I know. I hope to didn't scare anyone. Thanks so much for all the support. I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm okay, and am ready to put that bad day behind me and find some happiness.

Glad you are feeling better and more hopeful this morning. I just read your original post. I am sorry no one replied. I for one was in bed for the night. I don't have any wonderful advice I just wanted you to know we are here and are listening. Hugs.
* When nothing goes right...go left
* Attach your own oxygen mask before assisting others

I'm an Advocate

Hi CAust3,

I read your original thread and this thread, and thought I'd respond here because this has your most recent post.

I come from a family where there have been multiple successful suicides and, of course, even more failed suicide attempts. I was extremely close to my grandmother and maternal aunt (who was very young) when I was a child. Both of them made many attempts (which I witness as a child) and finally killed themselves. My uncle also committed suicide. My brother attempted suicide. My paternal grandfather was suicidal before his death. You get the picture.

It's true that when a family member actually does suicide, it impacts you for the rest of your life. I suspect it's also true for the families of those who attempt. But it doesn't have to change your life for the worse.

Most communities have groups for families and friends of those who have suicided and made attempts. The reason they have groups is because everybody goes through the same process and kinds of feelings.

I strongly recommend you look on the internet for what is offered in your community. (Ours is run in the local hospital.) Or call your community health center. If people don't heal these wounds right away, they tend to be affected negatively. I suspect there are internet groups for this, but believe in-person groups work best.

I also recommend you read one of the books for friends and families of suicides (and attempters). There are many excellent ones out there. Please let me know if you would like help selecting one.

You are not alone. I wish you the very best.
