Why wear a ribbon?

MDJunction to me

saralaurie"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

Knowledge about what's ahead of us can often lead to comfort. We always don't know what's around the corner. Hopefully, we strive to live each day with conviction, regardless of what's awaiting us. Preparedness can be a vital key. No matter what our challenges are, or even the uncertainty, we can have a peace of mind.

What do you do to achieve a piece of mind?

Not a psychiatrist (pdoc) nor a therapist...what you read are my thoughts and there you go.

My mind is like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

I do a stress management CD daily i go into a meditation state this really helps me cope with everyday stresses. This is part of my homework in therapy. Yes knowledge about whats ahead can give me peace of mind, its when i feel uncertain about things that i get anxious, most times tho i'm able to stay hopeful.

I try to "be" in the present. I try not to feel bad about anything behind me, nor be anxious about the path ahead.

I also listen to classical music and say prayers and positive affirmations (in my head) throughout the day.

Like freeemysoul I try and stay in the present, for me that means deep breathing usually. I have encountered some awful situations and feelings that couldn't be taken away by deep breathing but I haven't hit one yet where I didn't at least feel a little better by me doing the breathing. So I practice mindfulness breathing and meditation so I have it in my 'preparedness' tool chest. Knowing about and using deep breathing gives me peace of mind.

The more I know about what to expect or possibly expect the better I feel. Even if it is a far flung possibility, I'd rather know. I am pretty good. I don't obsess over negative possibilities but if something happens I could have been educated about it throws me. So education gives me peace of mind.

Support, both knowing I can get it and give it, gives me peace of mind. So I guess you can say MDJ gives me peace of mind because of all the support here!

Right now I am in early recovery for my nicotine addiction and I spend loads of time reading and journaling at www.whyquit.com for education and support and believe me I do LOT'S and LOT'S of deep breathing. All of these things give me peace of mind as I face this huge challenge.

I live in the moment. Also like the phrase don't worry about tomorrow....God is already there. Somehow that gives me great comfort.
