I am big time struggling. I feel like Geoden is doing more harm than good after being initially being successful - for like 10 days.

My pdoc has me slowly tapering off Pristiq - 150mg one night - 200mg the next.

My head is all over the shop. I'm extremely lethargic & have difficulty concentrating. I feel hopeless. My anxiety is up. I almost feel desperate again.

The harder I try, the worse things seem to get. I need support right now.

I'm screaming inside!

Geodon can have a sedative effect in some people for the first few weeks i believe so maybe you just need to give it time to get used to it. Im sorry you're feeling that way, i have been in your position and it really isn't nice at all.

Do you have any PRN's (benzodiazepines) to take? These might help with your anxiety.

Can you call your pdoc and let him know you are feeling this way?

Keep posting and you will get lots of support here.

'My head is all over the shop.'

I'm sorry. I hate that feeling. Like you can't get any traction or coherency in your own head. I don't have any advice but I can offer you support.

Scream and vent here all you need. We'll listen. Some will reply, most won't because many people just read which is a valid option but know that everyone who see's this has felt in some degree at some point like you and we are all with you.

I'm sorry you are feeling like this. I have felt the same at times in the past. I've never been on Geodon, so I'm not sure what to tell you about that, except I have heard it takes a while before the full benefits are felt. I would call your pdoc and explain what you are feeling and go from there. This current state of mind will not go on indefinitely, so don't feel trapped. Your feelings will change. I hope things get better soon.

Geodon is a great drug, but it's an anti-psychotic, it helps with hypo-mania/mania. I don't think it does much for depression. Maybe you are feeling this way because you are getting weaned off of your antidepressant. It's worth a question to your psychiatrist. I hope you get some relief soon.

Hi MCG. My *personal* experience with seroquel is that it helps with—what I call—brain sliding and mood swings, two extremely uncomfortable and frustrating spots to be in. Although it's called an antipsychotic, I guess seroquel is used as a mood stabilizer, too. But please DON'T medicate yourself. Wait and ask your doc. It's much better that everyone knows what you're taking and why.

In the interim, maybe try and watch a big, action-packed movie. If my brain is flying all over the shop (or office) and I can't concentrate, a big, loud movie sometimes allows me to focus...more or less. Brain sliding is not an exact science.
