Anyone have experiences with this drug? I'm being switched from Prozac to this on the 8th of June at my next review appointment.

Any input would be great.

Hi lieamacker! I was on Cymbalta for about a year and a half. I started out taking 30mg a day and pdoc increased me up to 90 mg per day. It relieved a lot of my depression and I didn't really have any ill side effects. I hope it works out well for you!

Thanks. I have been on Effexor which is also an SNRI and it made me yawn ALL THE TIME and gave me electric shock like feelings when i did yawn so wondering if that was a problem for anyone. I'm kinda scared because Effexor is the drug that was given to me as a (bipolar test med) my GP wanted to make sure I was displaying signs of mania so put me on effexor in a controlled environment to see how i reacted to it and to be honest i hit the stars.

I am on cymbalta for a few years now. It has the side effect of easing some pains that you would normally feel. That is a good thing.
My advice is worth what you paid for it – nothing!

Was put on it for fibromyalgia and taken off prozac- didn't to crap for my pain, but seems to really(with other med adjustments) helped pull me into the realm of stability... No side effects that I've noticed, on 60 mg is my dose. I do hear that detoxing is a careful process- missing even a couple of doses people (in my fibro group) report feeling flu like symptoms- so make sure to talk with doc if u decide to go off it. Certainly never experienced the electric yawn gig! Good luck!

I've been on it for over a year. Good med. Helped my depression and I didn't have side effects.

That's great to know. I have a history of antidepressants kicking me into mania. Have any of you had it with Cymbalta?

I have that same history- mostly hypomania (which I liked!)... I don't know if it's the increase in lithium and addition of lamictal that balanced me out- but even the pretty constant bouts of hypomania are not hitting me- but I don't feel flat or not "me" either... So far so good.

Cymbalta made me completely out of control, but only after long term. The side effects at first were icky, but they went away fast and it helped me lose a little weight too! Smile

I didn't start getting the bizarre mania (rage, etc) until about year 3 on max dose. SNRIs do that tom, and SSRIs are completely ineffective.
