Tongue I totally agree with the stress/relaxation thing, as well as the trauma, but nitalyns' relaxation tape experience reminded me of a funny story:

Once, long ago, in the days of cassette players, I also was given a relaxation tape. (this was after I'd broken the biofeedback machine - I was so stressed it wouldn't register and they had to keep calibrating it - numerous times!) Anyway, the bio therapist gave me a tape to take home. On the tape was the sound of waves breaking on the beach. I was to spend 30 minutes a day lying in a quiet room, listening to the ocean sounds. (being a single Mom with 3 young daughters this was practically impossible) One evening as I'd been lying quietly for a few minutes I finally made it to the part where a soft voice chants "listen to the surf", "feel the sea breeze on your face" at that moment, my daughters, smart-asses like their Mother, snuck into the room and sprayed me in the face with a spray bottle. I was laughing too hard to be mad at them and we all relaxed for a few minutes! ('course I made sure to lock the door after that) Smile

That reminds me of a time when I was a teenager. My friend had this super duper stereo system in his car. Well just to be funny and goofy like teenagers do, we checked out a tape from the library called dolphin sounds or whale sounds something like that. We then drove around town with the sound of whales tape playing as loud as possible LOL He had a big sub woofer in his truck so it was very loud. Can you imagine the sound of whales being played as loud as possible??? It was in the middle of summer and every car had their windows down LOL We got a lot of strange looks and a few laughs LOL

my girls used to be SO funny! the youngest had a descriptive language all her own, she used to say "egg wipe ", "lickstick" and "mixup" all of which bring to mind visuals of what she meant to say: egg white, lipstick and makeup Smile

I had a young child come up to me one day and ask if Tigger (my guide dog) was "a blind dog." I smiled and said, "No. Tigger is a very smart dog who helps me see because my eyes are broken." It was soooo cute!
