I am wondering if I am heading into a hypomania or what, because it gets on my nerves to read too many posts on here and usually I am very into every word. If they get "too long", I zone out and skip and I never do that. ALSO... I am an avid reader and read lots of fiction (good thing I teach language arts) and poetry. I do NOT read much nonfiction and I hate self help, but lately I CANNOT even get into books I KNOW I would love! I have books from friends that are my kind of genre: contemporary realistic fiction- and I cannot get past a page or so... It is soooo frustrating, because it is so cold and yucky out and I cannot even concentrate on reading or t.v. (which I don't like much anyway- except Celebrity Rehab, Sober House and maybe a couple more), yet I am tired and have no extra energy after work to do anything usually associated with hypomania. I just sit and look out the window, but am not depressed... Help me out. What do YOU think is going on? (and YES, I know you are not doctors and I need to ask my pdoc when I see himWink

SIMB, could be a lot of things. I too am an avid reader. Yet, I have gone through spells where nothing catches my attention. If you are having concentration problems, that could explain it...and yes the doc is the best one to address that, hon. Bummer. I know you love to read, I hope it gets better soon.

Sioux,

I can't comment on hypomania and lack of concentration (since I've only had one hypomanic episode), but I do experience this when I'm manic and it sounds to me like you and I share alot of symptoms in common. I also zone out and have difficulty focusing. I'm glad to hear that you'll be talking to your pdoc. It's best to nip this in the bud so that it doesn't turn into full blown mania.
