MDJunction to me

ThereseML"When I first came to MDJ, I was in need of peer support in dealing with issues of my childhood abuse. I was moving away from the painful issues and trying to find an uplifting group of people to help me transition to a thriver in my life. I found that here. I also found a group of peers with Fibromyalgia and found the same uplifting experience there. My computer crashed and it was a while before I found my way back, this time with issues related to Parkinson's Disease. I had tried a few other support sites before reminding myself of MDJ. On those, I never got a reply. I finally found my way back here and again found very supportive, caring and inspiring people who made me feel like I was 'back home'. Indeed I am." (ThereseML)

Hi all,

I am bipolar and take meds to manage my illness as I am sure all of you do.And I am working with my pdoc and doc to prepare to try and get pregnant. In order for things to go well, they want me to quit meds a month before trying. I am so terrified to stop my meds! It is almost like going off life support.Has anyone ever gone through this before????

Ativan 2mg at night
Lamictal 300mgs at night
Seroquel 600mgs at night
Seroquel XR 150mgs in the morning
Ambien 10mgs as needed

I have never stopped my meds but I can understand you being scared. Just remember to breath, you may be fine and not even have problems. You can always start them back after your baby is born.

I would suggest that you keep in close contact with your pdoc during your pregnancy so he or she can keep tabs on your moods. You might also want to see a therapist if you aren't already and perhaps schedule appointments to see them once or twice a week. That would at least help keep you grounded and give you some ability to keep your bipolar under control.

I wish you luck.

And I have to say that while I was pregnant I was my happiest.

I just walked around enjoying feeling my baby move inside of me that nothing could get me down, even with all the ups and downs of being pg, I just didn't want it to end.

I wish you luck in getting pregnant, it truly is a gift to have a baby.
