MDJunction to me

djfilippone"Before I found this site I felt so alone.  Watching my daughter struggle with IH and being treated like she had two heads from doctors.    I have plenty of family and friends but there was nobody that really knew what she was going through.
I not only have support and love from others who will listen and share their
story, but I have made some forever friends.  Having this support site does make a difference to many.

hi everyone,

for the past 2 days i've been severely depressed. today i felt better and level which is nice because that's how i've felt for the past 3 weeks. however, over the past several hours, i've been feeling restless, hyper (very hyper) and have been laughing hysterically at everything i hear on tv. i also just got done cleaning my apartment even though i cleaned it 2 days ago. a few hours ago i made mashed potatoes, meat loaf, corn and baked chocolate chip cookies for dessert. i know i'm manic right now because i can't remember the last time i prepared that kind of a meal. i'm also having alot of difficulty concentrating on what i'm writing right now and am having to re-read it several times before i'm able to say what i want to say. the tv is on in the background and sounds uncomfortably loud even though its' volume isn't set any higher than usual.

does anyone have any recommendations as to what i can do tonight to keep my mania under control -- especially so that i don't rapid cycle into depression or psychosis? i would call my pdoc's office right now, but i'd like to know if any of you have suggestions as to how i can handle this on my own first.

i would really appreciate any input or ideas.

by the way, i'm also concerned because i have an appointment tomorrow at 1pm and i want to make sure my mood is stabilized to some degree before i go.

help!

p.s. i tried taking the higher prn dosage of my trazodone, but it's not having any effect.

Just call the doc's office to be on the safe side if you are feeling like you need to. It is ok to call the doc...they may be able to tell you something to help...

I am right here if you need me, sweetie...let me know how you are.

If you are manic an adjustment in your meds just a little may help. If your doctor is on call 24/7 then make the call. I understand about not wanting to disturb the doc...i had an abscessed tooth all one weekend and when I finally got to the dentist on Monday they said why didn't you call. I suffered all weekend for nothing. Doctors are willing to help, sweetie...make the call.

oh sugar...i am so sorry the doc was rude to you. Do you live alone or do you have family with you? Tell them you are having a bad time of it...make some hot milk with a little butter in it and drink it down. Sip it as hot as you can stand it...and take a warm bath...try to do relaxing things...if you can't sit still then, it is ok to pace. Turn the tv or anything over stimulating down low, but not off some background sound is ok...
