Either I'm pacing around the house or I'm laying in bed as long as I possibly can. Any help would be welcomed. I'm bipolar on Haldol, Lithium, and Clonazepam. Needless to say my legs are extremely worn out. It's been about 6 months now my pdoc tries stuff occasionally but that's about it.

Never experienced this but it sounds horrible. My first instinct is to say make an appointment to see GP or if more urgent do you have a support worker you can phone? Sounds like maybe a medication adjustment needed?

My next instinct would be to say just go with it and ride it out (unless you have an eating/exercise disorder). If you have to keep pacing, keep pacing- maybe go out for a real good power walk with some music on. Maybe some part of you needs to do this? Can you stick on the TV while you're pacing, maybe something interesting on TV would distract you and make you stop?

Good luck.

When I first started my anti-psychotic, I got Akathisia, which is a restless feeling where you can't sit still. Even in bed, I had to move. It's an awful feeling. Maybe you are experiencing this. I would call your doctor soon. It's like you want to crawl out of your skin. You shouldn't have to deal with this. Maybe a different medication would be better for you. I'd ask about that. I'm sorry that you have to go through this. I'm sure you are losing sleep. I'm not a doctor, so I don't know that it is Akathisia, but that's just what it sounds like. I hope you are able to get some relief soon.

I also was on Haldol for awhile and I believe had something similar. Do you take the medication that reduces the side effects of Haldol? That is an older medication and has a lot of side effects. BUT it is a good medication. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about trying another antipsychotic. I am NOT a doctor though so I could be completely wrong. I would definitely talk to your doctor as soon as you can. Describe what you are experiencing as well as you can. Keep us posted. If I was you I would call Monday. I remember that feeling and I always felt like I was on edge. Good Luck!

Hi ScreaminFish and welcome, this is a very supportive group. I'm so sorry to hear you are pacing a lot and going to bed. When i get restless i go to bed to help ease the discomfort, I have Clonazepam (Klonopin) to take if it gets too bad, I also see a therapist and that is helping me a lot in dealing with some of this restlessness discontentment in myself. Not sure if you see a therapist you may want to try seeing one if you don't.

I wish there was something I could do for you i guess you just need to keep telling your psychiatirst (pdoc) about what you are experiencing there must be some medication combo out there that willw work for you, some people it takes time to find the right mix, keep trying and be persistant with your doctor. I wish you well, keep posting we are here for you.
