I'm an Advocate

Well, I need some support at the moment. I lost my job of 7 years and I'm freaking out right now. I don't know what I'm going to do now. I've got my resume out there on the internet and I'm looking in my local paper for jobs that I qualify for. I'm just really scared right now. Unless I can find some way to get medications, I will have to wean off all of them and won't be able to see my psychiatrist because I will no longer have insurance. I'm afraid I'm going to lose my apartment and my independence and that I will become a bipolar person not medicated. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading.

Aw Joy, I am so sorry to hear that. But 7 years, that's quite a record to have. And hopefully you can get unemployment kicking in.

Have you checked indeed.com? It gathers jobs from all other sites out there. It's very helpful.

Again I'm so sorry to hear this but you have such an excellent attitude, it won't be long I"m sure.

Take care,

Oh Joy I am so very sorry. You will find a job. I know it. I am so very sorry you are going through this though. I am so very sorry you are going through this. I wish I could give you a real hug.

I think there are programs out so that you can get medications and see a psychiatrist even without a job. I am sure people here will come and give you more information.

Keep Hope.

I am so sorry to hear about that. Can you go on unemployment? Maybe you can try disability. You can still work part time if you are accepted. You might want to contact your local social services to see what they have as resources. There must be something to allow you to keep your meds. Is there a health insurance for low income applicant's? I wish you luck Ermm

I'm so sorry, Joy.

I don't have anything to add to what's already been said above, but I wanted to let you know that I'm thinking of you.

My opinions are just opinions, and should be taken as such. I am not an expert on medicines or BP disorder.

Now it is my turn to help support you. There isn't much else I can add to the discussion except to check with your state about state funded insurance and assisstance. I know that here in AZ there is a state run program to get health insurance and food stamps and the like. I know that the place where I need to go to get evaluated told me that if I got a letter saying that I didn't qualify for the insurance that I would be put on a sliding scale for payments. Hang in there!! There are resources out there to help!! Take care!!

I am so sorry you lost your job. It's such an anxiety inducing state to be where you're at. The "what ifs" and "how will I . . . " can be consuming.

I agree that indeed.com can be a great site for job searching (as it pulls from a lot of different job posting sites) and it seems like you have your best foot forward with getting feelers out there already.

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that health insurance could be continued after a job is terminated (through COBRA I believe), but I know that can be pricey. It may be a temporary solution. As others have mentioned, there's a wealth of support for people in your situation so I'm sure that something will work out.

I hope you're able to find something else soon.

I'm so sorry. I am devastated for you. I know you must really be anxious. I really hope you find a way to continue your meds.

I will be praying for you and thinking of you often. Keep us posted. Seven years is really a good record.
