My 2 little boys(age 9 and 11) came up with the cutest birthday gift for me. They bought (with their own money) a hula hoop. They know I like to be on the move, I also told them that as a kid I used to stand for hours on end and finish a thick book while the hula hoop moved around my waste.

Too bad my kids are couch potatoes.

Oh how sweet of them! Maybe you can teach them how to do it and they'll get off the couch a little more often.

That's cool! There is a hula hoop game on my Wii Fit - but I don't score very high when I play. Funny, as a kid I was a Hula Hoop champion! I didn't realize they still made them. Maybe they will want to share it with you and get themselves off the couch!

Well Happy Birthday. That is so cute your kids got you a hula hoop, and so thoughtful of them.

What a neat gift. Hula hoops are trendy again, in my area you can even take classes to learn tricks so you are one of the 'cool kids'Laughing !

'Love thy neighbor as thyself' - I think the commandment got it backwards, people already treat their neighbors better, because if most folks treated or spoke to others the way they do themselves, they'd be arrested on the spot!

Aww, so cute! I love hula hoops although these days it seems the wii is the only 'hula hoop' I see, I'm looking into a weighted one, but sadly no sporting/fitness stores here carry them Sad

As for the wii - It's not a real hula hoop per se, your character on the screen is the one with the hoop, you basically stand on the balance board and move your hips as though you're trying to keep one up. And occasionally you have to lean to one side or the other to catch one they throw at you, in the end you have - I think it's 5 different hoops. It can be a pretty good workout for a 'kids toy' haha.
