It's 4:10 EST. I have been up for almost two hours. I have already showered, cleaned some house and I'm still in full speed. My medication has been doing so well, that I have very disheartened if I am getting manic. Does anyone think it's just a bad night or what. Suggestions please!!!

Maxicat, could just be a bad night. There have been a few of us on here til late this evening (or is it morning?). Sounds like you are atleast being constructive with the time. When my wife does one of these she usually has to crash for a nap the next day now, I remember when she did not have to take the nap. I am so glad for naps now!

My insomnia has kicked in again too. Don't worry, it could be nothing. If it lasts too long, however, please call you pdoc. You're a great person! It will all be okay!

Maxicat,

I agree with the others - it could be nothing. I sometimes have trouble sleeping/staying asleep, as do most people I know. (My husband is the one diagnosed with bipolar).

I also understand your concern. I can't help but worry when my husband doesn't seem to be acting quite right, and usually assume it's a cycle. Lately, it's been nothing. Good luck, and it's a good sign that you are so aware of yourself. Remember you can call your doctor if it gets worse since you know what's going on.

Sometimes, even if we were "considered normal" we have those days, it's not always cause we are bipolar, Maxi, what time did you go to bed? I've had to explain to my husband that if I went to bed at 9 and got up at 5, I would have had 8 hours sleep, and some of us function on less than that.

Since starting my medications, and having my cpap machine I am not requiring the 14 hours of sleep any longer... unless you start doing something really strange, I would not worry too much about it..

Most of us have the challenge of our other halves, thinking that anything we do has to be because we are "bipolar", just because I get pissed at hubby and yell at him, doesn't mean I am having a cycle day, he has days that he is a real asshole, and anyone would yell at him..lol..

I usually do good to get about 4 hours sleep, which may be all I need for right now. I see my doc. on the 30th so we will discuss it then. Thanks for all the support.

I am glad that you are seeing your doctor soon, the human body generally requires 6 to 8 hours of sleep to completely recharge, as we get older the melatonin in our bodies decrease, melatonin being the bodies natural sleeping pill, sometimes we will require adding it to our bodies as a supplement to aid in the sleep we need. I don't know how old you are, but I would consider being 40 or better, this might be the problem, you can talk with your doctor about taking some.. they offer it at any health food store, CVS or Walgreen's.

If you have not had a complete physical exam in a while, that might be a good thing to get too, to rule out any medical problems. Remember just because we have a mental illness doesn't make us any less subject to having things that "normal" people do.. and our illness is not who we are.
