...slowly recovering.

I went in for a disability evaluation and before i knew it, certain things I revealed put me at risk so I went over to the ER with my Dad. Several hours later I was put in a private psychiatric facility. The certain things I revealed was relating to my nagging thoughts of hurting myself lately. My depression had gotten so severe, I was messing around with Percocet wondering how much would kill me.

They had me on SO for the first night. The hospital was awful, because I hate hospitals. I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 w/ a severe depressive episode. It was not easy walking in and admitting I needed help/meds, and such but I did it and I'm going to stay focused on recovery.

Furthur diagnosis will probably happen when I get a regular Psych Doc, which I have an appt with one who accepts a sliding scale fee for therapy and meds until My insurance kicks in.

Hard as it was, I'm glad I did it.

I'm on abilify, seroquel, ambien, and klonopin.

Good for you. Many people refuse to accept help thinking they can go on their own.

I had picked up the phone and dialed the crisis # but immediately started having a panic attack and slammed the phone back on the receiver. I hope you get better.

Glad you accepted the help and got it when you did. I have always refused to go to the hospital. One of the reasons for that is that I worked in a psych hospital for 23 years as a nurse and I did not feel like I would be comfortable there. I actually felt I would get worse. My doctor agreed to treat me at home when I had a crisis and it worked out great....thanks to my wife and family support.

Getting the help you needed was the best thing you could do for yourself. I'm very proud of you for taking that step. It sounds like your dad is a good support system since he went with you. I'm glad you will be seeing a psychiatrist very soon and that he is going to work with you until you get your insurance. I think you are on the right track for bettering your life. You will get much support here. Feel free to post anywhere. I hope you feel a lot better soon.

your going to find that your life has just changed in so many ways with the meds, you have to take the regularly dont tell your self "i feel better" and stop them that would be bad and you will go back to feeling how you felt before. i say this because i notice this is a common thing with some medical conditions. were here for you when you need us so dont be afraid to reach out to us EVER.
I can be your friend, I can be your confidant, we could be like blood in closeness. But i CANNOT be you. you must make your own decisions. some will be good, some will be bad. but I will never leave until you push me away.

welbutrin 100mg 3x daily abilify 30mg once daily
cymbalta 120mg once daily Lamictal 150mg
benedryl 50mg once daily Thyroid Neurontin calcium
fish oil vitamin E lorazapam as needed 1mg
advair 50/500 twice daily accolate 20mg twice daily B12 once daily one dropper

Angelbaby I too was misdiagnosed with major depression and given the wrong meds which made me agitated. I already feel better on the new meds but we'll see if I can control the munchies. I'm into exercising so if I come up with a magic formula to eradicate the bipolar med weight gain I'll share it with everybody!

You have done all the right things specially talking about those thoughts of hurting yourself. Now that you are on Meds and will eventually have regular Pdoc appointments and perhaps even a tdoc things will improve.
