hi, i know most of you believe in god and i respect.

Even if i don't believe i have had a catholic education when i was a kid so i know that's many things we do when we are ill are not allowed, as thoughts of suicide, agressivity sometimes or many lovers when we have manic crisis.

I know we feel guilty after but what about these guilty feelings when you believe so much in god ?

i don't want to offence anybody just try to learn from you and understand.

christine

kisses

As one who is a Christian, I know that God understands that when I am hypomanic, I do and say things that I would not normally do. I believe I am forgiven when I ask for it. Not preaching, just sharing what I believe.

Thanks for the link, Norma.

Norma.. I just read that whole thread and though it does discuss individual's beliefs it doesn't touch too much on Christine's question.

I understand if this is a touchy subject and that's fine. I just don't think it's fair to think that thread really satisfies the question.

Hi cygnet. I am agnostic in my belief. I neither believe nor disbelieve. I simply don't know. Therefore, I have no guilt nor revelations for or from a supreme being. I neither thank nor blame, "God". I feel guilt when I do something that my morals tell me are wrong and forbidden. My guilt comes from, self, and no one else. When we are mentally ill, I don't consider it a mistake. I know right from wrong during episodes and I isolate myself if I feel out of control. Perhaps this comes with age as I am a few months from 60, but I believe I have always had the ability to choose.

Cyg, I am a born-again Christian. Jesus Christ is my saviour. I am a sinner and mess up all the time, but God does not want us to feel guilt- only godly sorrow for our sins. I ask forgiveness and try to move past it. Key word= try. Guilt is from the enemy, but God wants us to repent and move on, trying to lean on Him and not committ the same sin over and over. As stated earlier- I TRY to do this, but sometimes the old guild, or new guilt- slips back in. I am sooooo far from perfect and in many ways, I think that actually helps me be nonjudgmental of others. I dislike the type of 'Christians' who judge others and think they are oh-so-perfect, because guess what- they'll fall too. We all do at times. Just my input, Cyg. Kisses,

Still I'll rise.

I agree with Sioux, unfortunately I have messed up more times than I care to admit. I am hoping medication is going to help with the manic misbehavior. At least now I know what I have. I know that God forgives me but I have a problem forgiving myself. Reading about other people's stories and seeing that there are other people out there who are like me helps a lot. I can see myself in them and know that there is hope that I can keep it together and not fall off the deep end. kisses Christine.
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor

hi christine:

i am a christian. i believe that God is love. i don't feel guilty because i have screwed up either because of an episode or just life in general. not guilty because of God anyways. i think God just wants us to keep trying to do our best and love Him and each other. i think the guilt i feel is from myself and my peers. i believe God is loving and ultimately forgiving. it is the forgiving of myself that i find so difficult.
