Someone said they were bi-polar at 6 years old. Not sure if that is not just a depressed or anxious child or just an exuberant child. Maybe i am wrong but from all the studies this may seem a bit out of reality. What are your thoughts.Blink

my 9 year old was dx with adhd at 6 also. but i am watching him for bipolar symptoms. i feel like he probably will be dx with it eventually because some of the symptoms are popping up already. cycles, triggers, etc.

It was a miracle for me (not my son) to have the BP diagnosis. There was suddenly a name for his problem, since he no longer fit into the typical mold of "ADHD".

It wasn't until my son was nine and starting showing signs of BP (my mother is BP) that my pediatrician sent us to a psych doc.

do they take lithium? Can't that affect their growth and othe health issues. just asking what they give kids. Yes a percentage of kids are add or adhd or adhd combined type (that was me and then are bi polar either one or two when older)

I am concerned about side effects. But, I have to weigh that with quality of life. They are doing beautifully now, enjoying life.
