I am sorry you are not doing well right now with your drinking. I used to have the same problem. I am a recovered alcoholic. Like Dit said, we are here to support you. Could you elaborate some so we can better know how to help you? It's not clear as to what you need.

The quitting feels weird and uneasy because your body is getting rid of the stuff. Big chemical stuff going on in your body and brain. Yes, it is tough. But you can do it. You can get sober.

I drank heavily for many, many years. Then got sober because there was a guy I wanted to ask out - who had been sober 17 years. It is now 21 years. Met on internet through a common interest in technical stuff.

What I am trying to say is that when I had my focus on "something other" or "something better", I was able to start really getting sober. Not just getting sober for a bit and quitting: but really aiming to BE sober.

I guess what I would say is: take up something you love and throw yourself into it. It may seem "fake" at first. Like just keeping you busy and detracted. Yet after a while you might start enjoying it, feeling good ... and then you notice ...WOW! This DOES feel good. (Yes, I DO like green eggs and ham. Yes I do, Sam I am!"

Gee, I sure hope that you can get back to the fun part of the little kid you once were...and have fun in life. Okay, maybe it was not ALL the fun part of being a little boy.....maybe there is only a tiny speck of remembered fun amongst the pain. (most of us have painful memories/experiences from childhood - especially here.) You were a little boy..and he is still in there wanting some love and some fun. Do the fun.

Get interested and interesting in something other than alcohol and alcohol-related things. Then it is funny, but you will attract good people to you. Be a bit cautious with new friends. Don't want their emotional s**t or falling into bad things.

Oh, the little boy part? Aren't you glad you were never that small? (Big grin)

A good day to you, BigShiny. (Is that for your noggin, bud? My first roommate in college was absolutely hooked on "bald" guys. Yul Brenner and all the rest..besides the men she met in life)

Hang in there...go to an AA meeting. Drinking can really mess with our meds, although i understand the fast fix it can provide...be well.

Take care -- If you call the local AA hotline they can probably even arrange to have someone pick you up and bring you to a meeting. There is no judgment. There is a lot of compassion. The hotline is usually manned by old-timers who are familiar with the whole AA scene -- they can probably guide you towards meetings that might be most helpful (mens' groups, dual diagnosis, large or small groups, etc.). It's on the Internet as well, but speaking with someone who's heard literally thousands of stories is, I think, a better way to start things off. Perhaps you could just speak to this person and explore your options. AA can bring a great sense of community, support, and relief. People there KNOW what you're going through, they have been there . . . .

I hope you communicate through post, PM, etc., letting us know how you're doing.
