"Mental Illness: Bipolar Disorder and PTSD" (kimberuni)

MDJunction to me

djfilippone"Before I found this site I felt so alone.  Watching my daughter struggle with IH and being treated like she had two heads from doctors.    I have plenty of family and friends but there was nobody that really knew what she was going through.
I not only have support and love from others who will listen and share their
story, but I have made some forever friends.  Having this support site does make a difference to many.

Cheers, cptblack, I agree for the most part but, I would also like to see more conflict resolutions done on the open forum. Granted, I have no idea exactly what situation you are referring to. Though, maturely handling those types of things where everyone can give input and support can offer opportunities to grow. I would also like to add that 100% of all the other people on this planet are different than ourselves. We can not expect others to always kowtow to our individual emotional needs. This is a part of growing and maturing.

Ok, I figured this one out last night.

But some people have sensitivities that are so obscure no one would think of them.

I think I am just going to list my sensitivities out right here and now for everyone to read. Let this be your warning:

I heave a kid with a heart condition. No one ever better joke around about having a broken heart or being heartsick because that will provoke a reaction in me and I will then need to chew you out on the open forum.

I also have a kid with ADHD. No one ever better joke around about, **OMG**, being too hyper or being too forgetful because that is offensive to me and I will need to chew you out on the open forum.

Lets see.... what else... Oh yes, yet another child of mine has a speech impediment. No one ever better use the words "I dont understand you" because they are in poor taste and I will then need to chew you out on the open forum... grow up, people!!!

But that is unrealistic, Wendy. People aren't going to remember your personal sensitivities 3 or 6 months from now. Members who join next week won't know about your personal sensitivities. No one can remember every member's idiosyncratic sensitivities.

It is the responsibility of each member with idiosyncratic or over- sensitivities to handle themselves appropriately when their own personal issues come up.

Bipolar II, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Attacks, Agoraphobia & PTSD; Alcoholic in recovery since 3/21/07.
