Have you ever gone into a period of isolation because of your Bipolar Disorder where you wouldn't or couldn't leave the house? Or even partial isolation, where you'd go out if necessary, but other than that, were scared to leave?

Do you know why you did it?

How long is the longest that you've done that, and how did you end it?

Omg yes! It may sound twisted but isolation is my best friend. I isolate myself purposely bc I am embarrassed and unsure of my reactions 2 society. I also isolate bc I thnk every1 has somethn bad 2 say or thnk about me..however when manic I wana go out and go 2 the bar and I am confrontational and unashamed, very cocky yet bitchy..isloation is what I do n my lows- but its also an ingredient n my lows

If it works for you then I'm happy for you. Isolation works for me if it's only for a day. After that, I go into a deep depression where I won't want to leave the house except to do the things I have to do. Even then it's a struggle.

I tend to isolate when I am in a state of if one more person pisses me off, I am going to kill them.. it gives me time for the feelings to pass, hypo-mania symptom as I have now come to understand.

Thank God for medications as I work with the public.

I actually isolate a good bit. Mostly b/c I am depressed and just dont want to be around people. When manic I do good.
My best day is worse than the worst day you have ever imagined.

I isolate myself sometimes. Why? Because I am the best person to be around! hehe

I tend to isolate myself more then most. I think people are petty and stupid. Their only source of entertainment is gossip and negative talk. (I live in a small town) The only place to socialize is in a seedy bar.. not my style.

But I think it's normal for people to isolate. I have many friends who are not Bipolar that do the same thing.
