Hi All,

Here'an art therapy activity i just discovered that helped take a little of the " edge" off an anxious moment. Would like to share it with you guys. Take a fist full of modeling clay or play dough, and just roll it between your palms, press,it pound it,knead it mold it and remold it,do it all over again and again, in any sequence but essentially, just lose yourself and any sense of time in the process. get into that all important flow of just getting caught up in shaping the clay. Then, when you're content," cool down" by sitting in a chair with the clay in one hand. Close your eyes, take a few slow deep breaths, and start relaxing muscle groups gradually working down from your scalp,to your toes. Then, when you've relaxed sufficiently, focus on your breath and start pressing into the clay in time with your breathing for the next 10-15 minutes. Here's hoping it works for you too! Smile

I do this! I never ever focus on the finished product, I just love shaping and pounding the stuff. The Crayola clay found at the drug store can be fun too -- it's non-toxic so they give it out at the psych ward -- it's got a different consistency but is less dirty and just as fun, in a different way Smile

You are absolutely right. It's the process and not the product. Will try the crayola clay.
