Afraid to even try them because I know I'll get addicted.

If I take 1 mg of Klonopin at a time I get drowsy. I used to take 2 mg per day. Now I only take .5 mg 2x/day and I'm OK, but I think it does nothing. What helps me chill out is my prn Ativan. 1 mg of Ativan doesn't make me drowsy, neither does 2 mg. I usually take 1 mg per day but have taken up to 6 mg (spread throughout the day) on really rough days.

Psychiatric meds:

Lithium ER (900 mg)*Tegretol XR (1400 mg)*Lamictal (100 mg)*Geodon (160 mg)*Navane (5 mg)*Seroquel XR (100 mg)*Klonopin (.5 mg)

Ativan 1 mg "as needed" (I rarely take it.)*Seroquel regular 50 mg "as needed" (Only if I'm getting elevated.)

Other meds:

Propranolol (40 mg)*Levothyroxine (150 mcg)

My mix is side effect friendly for me.

I once made a cross country trip and forgot my vial of Klonopin. I was on 4 mg per day. My pdoc was being a bastard and it took him 3 days to call in another rx. I had anxiety, the shakes, insomnia, was physically I'll and really felt like I was going to pass out or die. I feel horrible because my father was taking me to NYC for a show (The Producers), to bond, and to take me to the Belgian consulate to gain my dual citizenship. My dad was so happy and proud, and he was trying to make the trip amazing -- and all I could think about was withdrawals, sickness and death. He later told my mother I was "too quiet", making me seem unappreciative.

I didn't know at the time, but I was dangerously ill -- Turns out I was at a very high risk for a seizure. My poor Dad .....

A few years later I'd use Klonopin for approx. 3 deliberate OD's. How I kept having it prescribed I don't know. Now I just can't have that particular med -- too triggering. One dr in the ER told me exactly how much I'd have to take to die (why do they say such things?!?). Now I take Librium 3x a day.

I take Klonopin. Right now I only take .05 mg at night. It is supposed to help with anxiety and help me sleep, but it isn't really working. I'm going to talk to pdoc soon.

I was on it before at 1 mg every 4-6 hours or as needed for anxiety, but that was from my reg doc.

I know klonopin has helped a lot of people but even at large doses it does not calm me down or chill me out. I used to be prescribed a dosage of 3 mg per day but it only took the edge off. My doctor, just this week, prescribed me a low dose of Ativan. For some reason a small dose of that works very well for me. Right now I am only on .5 mg once per day, and I take it at night when I have overwhelming emotions.

Currently coming off of 8mg Klonopin / day. It's one of the worst withdrawals ever! I sympathize. I'm having to come down VERY slowly. One of the withdrawal symptoms is that it actually CAUSES Panic Attacks...great...

Klonopin...one of the most highly addictive benzos...is No Joke.

They're designed for short term use, because your body adapts and you need MORE to get the same effect.

Stopping abruptly will get your attention, and could land you in the hospital.

So, "chill pills" is a bit too endearing a term.

i'm titrating off 8mg/day right now...coming off causes insomnia, Panic Attacks, Free-Floating Fears, Anxiety... Oh, it's a sweet trip, alright!
