Often different kinds of food serve as self-medication.I went online to find out if there is a reason why I love very, very, very spicy foods.

Before I get into it,the various places I looked at talked of carbohydrates which people get stuck on,wanting more and more, and chocolate. Chocolate one article says is "An anti-depressant which tastes like desert". It releases serotin and edamorphines which depressed people lack and need serotin especially to make contact between both sides of the brain. Chocolate is eaten by many, though I have no craving for it,besides, sweet food always sets me off for wanting more and its unsatisfying so I don't buy it.

But I love spices sp much that everything I eat I add red-hot chillie powder.

I got one idea from a movie where the woman opens a speciality chocolate store in Belgium (?) and she puts hot powder in the hot cocoa she makes for people.

I do that with Turkish coffee. Nothing I eat won't have loads of garlic,I eat raw onions, hot spices.

I had read that Tumeric is a definate anti-depressant .Its a main part of curry powder but its not spicy. I don't like the taste but eat some with chillie spices or chillie peppers.

Its known that hot spices like chillie raise blood pressure, heavier breathing and sweat. I sweat a lot from the meds so more doesn't matter.

Spicy foods get more serotin released and also endorphins. Gets the blood flowing.

Also eating spices on salads instead of oil save weight gain.

I'm with you on spicy. I like the feel of panic when I overdo it and my nostrils catch fire. Also blueberry juice and raw salmon. I known spicy is about endorphins, but the others just taste healthy.

I love spicy food too. I have this really intense cayenne. It's a million times spicier than they stuff you find in the store. It last a long time since a pinch is super intense. I just tried curry powder today. Has a little spice but it's really good. Lately I've been craving cabbage.

Salt. I really really like salt. Like...I would very happily pour some on my hand and just lick it up plain (and sometimes do). Barbecue potato chips are my favourite thing ever, and were my go-to comfort food when I was getting really depressed a few weeks back. I also really like kimchi but I can't get it as often as I'd like. I have no idea why either of those would be the cravings but...salt and kimchi are glorious.

I like salt too haha. Whenever my boyfriend makes stuff I always add salt and he is like noooooo its so bad. So then I started pretending to use the pepper instead haha. I did some weird 2 day fast and now I feel like I can sort of taste stuff without salt so hopefully I take it down. So far so good.

When I was a kid I loved those pretzels you make yourself and they have tons of salt on them. Too bad I can't have gluten Sad haha
