I have been doing ok but today has been a mixture of constant running and spending too much money eating too much and cleaning and walking the dog and spinning thoughts in my head. I thgought I could go lie down but the room spins when I try to. What do I do?

I think the more essential question is do you have something to take for mania? I see this all the time, where doctors fail to make provisions for a response to manic symptoms, and the person heads into a manic episode. (My doctor gives me extra meds with special instructions about when to take them.) This is something you might want to discuss with your doctor because there is no telling whether this is transient or prodromal to a major episode.

If I was taking a med like Seroquel for mania, and I verified that I wasn't on the maximum dose at more than one web site, I myself would take a modest extra amount. I am not recommending you do this, of course; I can't tell you what drugs to take, I can only say that I view the onset of manic symptoms seriously. You don't sound too bad, so you might want to ride it out and try some relaxation exercises. You might also want to think about events today that might have triggered the mania, look at them soberly, and discredit them as valid sources of manic emotion. Perhaps you are carrying anger, resentment, humiliation or other strong emotions in reaction.

Do talk to your doctor about a mania action plan. Leaving patients unprotected is derelict.

Sorry - I don't know what any of that means. LOL I think I may call the emergency number for my psychiatrist.

I am on 100mgs of seroquel. It usually knocks me out. In fact this week I had to cut back to 50mgs because it was making me a zombie.

My psychiatrist called me back and told me to take another 100mgs of seroquel and to increas my lithium tomorrow. I see him Monday so that is good. I have taken the seroquel and I am just waiting for it to start working. Hopefully I will be wiped out asleep soon. Once the room stops spinning that is. Tongue

I'm an Advocate

hang in there* I take 400mgs Seroquel at night and have 25mgs up to 100mgs during the day.. I deal with other medical issues.. so along with those med.'s I've gotta push myself to keep going* but it's nice to not be in a manic spell.. others have trouble deal with those that deal with such.. but just try being the one.. can't run away from your self so to speak* So, my heart goes out to you & anyone dealing with this illness... I just was on lithium then another one.. worked mentally but I swelled badly and had to stop such* Wish I didn't have to because every bit helps* warmest blessings to you & yours* Becca

I'm glad you called your pdoc and I hope you are feeling better and sleeping Smile I take Seroquel to sleep. When I started Seroquel I was taking 50mg for months before I bumped up to 100mg, and now I've been on 100mg for over a year and I haven't needed to go any higher yet.
