I went to see my psch nurse monday she has perscibed seroquelxr(gradual release) for me-to help me throughout the day with aggitation. Also she suggested i try the vyvanse again. The med (stimulant)i had real problems with a few wks back. It is for my adhd-sorry to go off subject if i am but i need to share and get support. i have tried to get help on the adhd group with no luck-no one seems to be on there-i do not get response. anyways, I tried the vyv, again with the same issues. the thing is it makes me feel real good too-so i like it and i hate it. The prob i have is i feel i am losing myself. i have been so scared. thinking keep trying you will adjust. to thoughts like my life means nothing, i am a big failure, feeling wicked paranoia-did not wanna leave house-feel trapped inside my body/alone. had to be around anyone-because i feel so weird. so i know now no doubt the drug is not for me. feel relief and also-gosh i hope i am not going to be cranky-irritable again. i hope at least the seroquel increase and the gradual release will help because i feel like i hurt the ones closest to me. thanks for listening. i had to share-those feelings scared me so. i know i am a mess sometimes. and soooo needy. i don't have anyone except my bf and don't know how he deals with me-he could have someone who is much more stable.

Hi, Julie. I am sorry that you are going through such a difficult time right now, it sounds like the vyvanse just isn't for you. I hope that the seroquel increase will help you feel better and be able to enjoy life again. Remember that we are here for you, anytime you are having feelings and thoughts that you need to get out this is a safe place to do it. (((((HUGS)))))

You can be needy with me. However, that doesn't mean I will be much help here. I take Vyvance and have not experienced those symptoms, but if they go away when you discontinue Vyvance, that is a strong suggestion that the drug is not for you, at least at this time. I'm not clear on what other distressing symptoms you have besides what you mentioned, so I am not sure what tools to offer. Maybe if you could prioritize your distresses and share them, some of us can tell you what we do to cope with them.

I can tell you are working hard to get better, and it inspires me to help if I can.

Hi Jewl,

Thank you for sharing with us. You must have had a horrible week, to say the least. First of all, have you contacted the psych nurse who prescribed the Vyvanse and told her of the symptoms? If not, I recommend you do so right away and follow her directions. Second, I'm sorry you didn't get help in the ADHD group - how frustrating. Third, the changes in your thinking that you attribute to the Vyvanse are truly disturbing and would frighten anyone.

Fourth, you are right to share those thoughts and what happened with us here. Even though you may feel very isolated and cut off, you are not alone; we care and want to help. And fifth, although you may feel like a "mess" and "needy," I encourage you not to. Jewl, the experience you've been through is very disorganizing and your feelings are normal. And there is nothing wrong with having needs. All of us have needs. I respect you for being clear on what you need and asking for it. I believe your boyfriend is fortunate to have a girlfriend who is clear on when she needs attention and reassurance and asks for it.

Bipolar II, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Attacks, Agoraphobia & PTSD; Alcoholic in recovery since 3/21/07.

Aplenzin 522mg; Pristiq 200mg; Lamictal 400mg; Geodon 160mg; Ativan 1mg TID; Deplin 15mg; Xanax PRN; Metoprol 100mg.

There is some.research suggesting that stimulants are not good for bipolar people. That being said, some people here take them with no problems. I never could get stable while taking them. So, I understand what you are saying.

I take a small dose of concerta with no problem, but I had those same side effects with adderall and plain ritalin. I had to get the bipolar stable before I could get the right stimulant. I actually find the concerta very calming. We are all different and only your doctor would know whats right for you.
My experience is no substitute for sound medical advice.

Since you are feeling this way on that medication, be sure to tell your psych nurse. I'm sorry that it's having this effect on you. Maybe a different stimulant would be better. There are a few out there. I take Dexedrine and it just allows me to focus better. No ill effects. What you are describing sounds scary to me. I would not like it either. I hope the Seroquel calms your irritability down and brings you some peace. Your boyfriend loves you, that is why he is with you. Accept that, you are a great person, never forget that! Say anything you want to us, we'll be here for you. I hope you start to feel better real soon. You know where to find me.
