I've tried a few times recording my moods but got tired of doing this. Yes it can help for me it gave me an idea how many lows i was having in a week, month, for me i call depressions 'lows' b/c they have most of the time over the yrs been short-lived (my meds always worked well) i hate using the word depression, i use it if the lows are running over 2 wks or so, my lows maybe are mostly one to two days, sometimes a bit longer I mainly suffered with more lows and had less highs (hypomanias) again i would chart the same way as lows and observe, again my highs were shortlived took, unless i was having an episode.

This way when i'd see my pdoc i had some concrete info to tell him otherwise i'd forget. I did this mainly when i was having more cycling or more lows at once or more highs, but haven't done in a long time. I just may start to do this i know it would help both me and my pdoc. There's charts online i'm sure members can give you the site name or links, i like to keep it more simple when charting.

Some people swear by doing this. best of luck.

I've found them to be incredibly helpful. I use one that tracks my sleep, my mood, etc. It was a simple one that was set up in an Excel Spreadsheet from home. There are many that can be downloaded free from the internet and printed out. For me, the more information I know, the better off I am and the better equipped I am to manage my bipolar.

There is a good one on the internet at www.moodtracker.com. Mood charting is good and it tells you a lot about your cycle and if you are depressed or manic/hypo-manic. It's also good for your psychiatrist to look at and see how you are doing. I hope you do one. It's very helpful.

oh Yes very helpful my pdoc loves them. I use moodchart.org it is all online, you get an email every morning to fill out for the prior day. It charts your mood, weight (monthly), meds, anxiety and irritablity. I would never use one otherwise, you are able to print them out.
